Recently, reporters learned from the Nanchong science and Technology Bureau, the Nanchong municipal government and Soochow University formally signed an agreement to establish a modern Nanchong.

The center provided 1 million yuan of start-up funds from the municipal government, and led by the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. Soochow University provided technical support and joined forces to solve the technical bottlenecks in the development of traditional silk industry with modern science and technology.
Soochow University is a combination of Suzhou sericulture college and Suzhou Silk Institute of technology. It has a solid foundation for sericulture and silk research.
The modern silk National Engineering Laboratory of Soochow University is approved by the national development and Reform Commission in December 2008. It is the only state-level engineering laboratory of silk industry in China. It is mainly engaged in research and development of silk and silk new technology, new materials and new varieties (especially new materials for silk, non textile utilization of silk), industrial pformation and upgrading, service manufacturing, and frontier key technologies related to industrial pformation and industrial progress.

The construction of Nanchong research center is also the first sub center established by the laboratory in China.
The Nanchong research center will focus on the three research directions of "digital silk processing technology", "ecological processing technology of silk products" and "processing technology of functional silk and its products". In this way, we will build a strong and independent R & D capability and a great impact on the pformation and distribution center of silk science and technology achievements in the Midwest of China.
"The construction of the center will further enhance the technological innovation capability of Nanchong's silk industry and promote the breakthroughs in the silk and garment industry in Nanchong and even the western region."
City Science and Technology Bureau official said.
According to the agreement, Soochow University will organize the relevant experts to formulate the development plan of the Nanchong Research Center, provide technical support for the implementation of the plan, and appoint 2 to 3 staff members of the permanent research center in Nanchong, responsible for organizing the relevant experts to study the common technologies and applications related to the development of Nanchong's cocoon and silk industry. The Soochow University's related scientific and technological achievements will give priority to Nanchong's hatching and industrialization, and actively train applied talents and high-level scientific and technological innovation talents for Nanchong enterprises and institutions.
Soochow University will also set up post doctoral workstation for textile science and Engineering in Nanchong Research Center, and assist relevant enterprises in Nanchong to declare the post doctoral workstation.
The establishment of the research center in Nanchong will give priority to Nanchong.
