How far is IM interconnection?
Over the years, the domestic instant messaging (IM) market has been showing a trend of "separatist rulers". Although the Tencent QQ has occupied an absolute advantage in Chinese IM, with the accession of Fetion, competitors including MSN, sina UC, Skype, Wang Wang and so on are also in the face of the trend of interconnection and open platform. They are planning to take the trend of socialized technology in order to subvert the building of Tencent. Recently, Sina's marriage to MSN, the telecom, mobile and Unicom mobile phone users' attention to carry out the network transfer pilot started, is quietly changing the IM market structure.
Looking at the current domestic market, there are at least 30 IM tools with one hundred thousand user level. But the IM tools are not connected each other, so users can not communicate directly, often need to install multiple IM tools at the same time to meet the needs. Especially for many enterprise level IM users, this is obviously not consistent with the concise and fast theme of the times. We can see that IM has a long way to connect and interconnect, and every IM manufacturer needs to go up and down.
In this regard, some experts believe that if we want to make the big cake of industrial scale, interconnection is the primary problem to be solved. This industry is not the time to grab the cake. We need to work together to make the cake bigger. It can be said that IM interconnection is already popular. But from the current situation, to truly realize interconnection, we need the courage and wisdom of domestic IM operators.
The third quarter domestic IM market data released by Analysys International showed that the market share of Tencent QQ was 76.37%, Ali Wangwang ranked second in 9.81% share, followed by Mobile Fetion and MSN Messenger, which accounted for 5.55% and 4.34% respectively; Skype ranked fifth in 2.08% share; Sina UC, NetEase bubble and YAHOO Messenger had no more than 1% market share. It is not hard to see that even if all 2~7 of the latter are united, it will still be difficult to match QQ.
It can be seen that Tencent QQ is the key to IM interconnection. Innovation is a social right and social trend. Any old mode of operation will always face the challenge of innovation mode, and so does Tencent. Now, if we open the QQ platform, the impact on Tencent is mainly that the increase of the choice of QQ user communication will eventually bring the growth of user migration, and then affect the QQ user group. The huge user base is the foundation for Tencent to develop value-added services such as news content, blogs, Email, student records, forums, games and so on.
