    Chongqing Decides To Levy High-Grade Commercial Housing Property Tax.

    Xinhua News Agency reported that the Ministry of Finance had agreed in principle to levy commercial housing property tax in Chongqing, and the specific implementation plan was formulated by the local government and reported to the Ministry of Finance for the record.

    Chongqing is stepping up its efforts to improve the relevant programmes. It is expected to issue documents in the first quarter of this year to levy high-grade property tax.


    Shanghai and Chongqing were the first cities to introduce the property tax pilot in the country. Huang Qifan's position was also the first official public statement of local government's collection of property taxes.


    According to media reports, Huang Qifan, mayor of Chongqing, interviewed the media in June 2010, and disclosed the idea of Chongqing property tax.
