This is mainly due to the fact that many desert areas in Somalia, dry climate, sparse vegetation, camels are better able to adapt to this natural condition than other animals.

Camel hair can be exchanged for daily necessities, and the camel skin is made of shoes that prevent hot sand and hot feet. In critical situations, the meat, milk and blood of camels can be maintained.

So Somalis often say, "as long as we keep several camels at home, we will not worry about eating."

Walking on the wilderness of Somalia, there are vast sandy sea, and the drought resistant cactus plants and thick leaves and water shrubs are scattered among them. On the side of the country road, from time to time, under the huge umbrella shaped canopy with dense leaflets, the herd of sheep flee from the scorching sun in the shade of the trees, and also see camels or drinking water or lying in bed near the wells.

Somalia also has the reputation of "spice state": excellent natural frankincense and myrrh are special products of Somalia. Frankincense and myrrh have the functions of promoting blood circulation, dispersing stasis, swelling and pain relief. The drugs made from frankincense and myrrh are used to treat abdominal pain, menstrual pain, traumatic injuries, swelling pain, sore toxin and so on.

When frankincense burns, it can emit strong fragrance. It is the raw material used for burning incense in Christ Church, Buddhist temples and Hindu shrines to enter Islamic mosque, and is also the raw material for burning incense in wedding and funeral occasions.

Somali produces frankincense and myrrh has a long history, as early as 3000 BC, the ancient Egyptian businessmen came here to buy.

99% of Somalis believe in Islam. It is designated as a state religion. Islam is a compulsory course in schools. The presidents, prime ministers and ministers assume oath to Allah, and all parties also believe in God as their platform.

There are mosques in Somalia, only more than 150 in Muqdisho. One of the oldest is built in the 1182. In 1976, the solidarity mosque built by Saudi Arabia is the largest mosque in East Africa. Its cream steeple towers into the clouds and can accommodate more than 10 thousand Christians. At the same time, it prays that the ceremony of calling the Moslem prayer from the tower every day will ripple over the capital.

Although the Somali people believe in Islam, they can not see the scenes of women with a black veil. They all wear bright clothes with a cloth headscarf, so the Arabs here have African Customs.

The Somali people practise polygamy, and their brothers or wives are allowed.

The general herdsman family consists of one or two or two or three men and their wives, children or widows or other relatives.

Men usually have three wives, each wife has a grazing animal, so the husband has a larger herd, but Somalis prohibit any consanguineous marriage.
