In particular, the national textile association requires
Chenille weaving
A 125% tariff is imposed on the decorative cloth, and a 75% tariff is imposed on all other decorative fabrics.
This requirement is part of the association's July 15th petition on behalf of the domestic wide decorative cloth textile manufacturing industry.
The petition pointed out that since China joined the WTO in 2001,
U.S.A
The number of decorative fabrics imported from China has increased significantly.
The petition lists a lot of fabric import figures, and the petition also highlights the import and export of tailoring and sewing bags from China. In 2001, it imported $2 million 400 thousand and increased to $333 million 600 thousand by 2005.
The petition said that China's textile imports caused substantial damage to the United States, leading to widespread unemployment in the US industry.
The petition said that from 2004 to 2006, the domestic textile and garment industry lost 630 thousand jobs.
It is not clear how many of these lost jobs involve decorative cloth production.
The petition also claims that the Chinese government provides subsidies to textile producers while keeping China's currency undervalued, so that the prices of Chinese products are cheaper in dollar terms.
An American Manufacturing Director said in his report that if he had free labor, his fabric sales price would be reduced by 20%, but compared with Chinese products, Chinese products were still 50% cheaper.
The American fabric manufacturers signed on the petitions include American Silk Mills, David Rothschild Co., Rothschild and Co., Raxon fabric, Mori Berri textile mill (Sunbury Co.), weaving mill, Victor Textile & Textile Co., Ltd.
According to the content of the document, the petitioners believe that their production representatives represent more than half of the US production.
