Kampuchea'S Economy Depends On The Clothing Sector.

Kampuchea's clothing and textile industry has made a significant contribution to the country's economy and can be called the cornerstone of Kampuchea's economy, a report said.

By the end of 2011, 309 clothing and textile companies in Kampuchea employed about 335 thousand and 400 workers, 91% of whom were women, according to a report by the Ministry of Commerce.

According to the report, the clothing and textile industry paid $408 million for workers last year.

In 2011, the clothing and textile industry in Kampuchea exported $4 billion 240 million worth of goods, an increase of 25% over the same period last year. It is the largest revenue generating sector in the country, contributing 85% to the country's total exports.

The United States and the European Union are the main export destinations for clothing in Kampuchea.

Last year, exports to the United States increased by 11% over the same period last year, to $2 billion 50 million, while exports to European countries increased by 42% to 1 billion 300 million US dollars over the same period last year, the report said.
