The Forum on cultivating 100 billion textile industry has been held in Changsha recently.

To build 100 billion textile industry is a milestone for Hunan textile industry to become bigger and stronger. By the end of 12th Five-Year, the total output value of Hunan textile will exceed 150 billion yuan, and by 2020, Hunan textile will break through 250 billion yuan, laying the foundation for achieving post development overtaking and building a strong textile province.

Liu Hui, director of the provincial textile industry management office, pointed out that since the 2009 Hunan textile and garment industry was cultivated as a 100 billion industry, the passion for innovation and development in the whole industry has been unprecedentedly high.

Especially in the past two years, Hunan textile has achieved more than 30% growth rate for two consecutive years, and has become an important force supporting the continuous development of Hunan's economy and society.

In 2011, 469 Textile Enterprises above Designated Size completed industrial output value of 83 billion 533 million yuan, an increase of 32.7% over the same period last year. The main business income was 78 billion 165 million yuan, an increase of 30.4% over the same period last year. The total profits and taxes were 5 billion 759 million yuan, up 53.5% over the same period last year. The investment reached 15 billion 408 million yuan, up 38.5% over the same period last year, all of which laid a solid foundation for achieving 100 billion industrial goals.
