Fan's Yu Mei came to Vietnam from Guangzhou to study Chinese in 2009. After ending a year's language course, her parents hoped that she would be able to choose foreign languages or foreign trade majors like other Vietnamese students, but fan's Yu Mei hoped to become an excellent fashion designer. Eventually, she persuaded her parents to choose to attend the school of design, South China University of Technology.

For Yu Mei, who has never had a design basis, it is not easy for her to imagine learning. "When I was a student, it was very painful. I had to face up to foreign art history and other theoretical courses, plus poor Chinese proficiency. I often could not understand the contents of the teacher's lectures, so I had to go to the library to read all kinds of information and dictionaries after class, which became the biggest obstacle in my life in Guangzhou." But this stubborn girl never gave up the idea of giving up. "My theory class is not good, does not mean that I am not suitable for clothing design, I think I can play other advantages to accumulate experience."

She likes to walk around and see her, especially in the spring of Guangzhou. She thinks that the city is full of surprises. "Sometimes when I walk up the path and suddenly see a bunch of flowers in the distance, I'll take it down, go back to copy and study, or go to Yuexiu Park, Lotus Hill and other places to go outing and sketch, and draw inspiration from design." Fan's Yu Mei stressed that in Guangzhou, the choice of fabric materials is very diverse, which has brought many bold ideas to her.
