The Future Of Sustainable Development Of China'S Textile And Garment Industry

In June 29, 2012, the 2012 China was hosted by the China Federation of textile industry.

The joint annual conference of CSR and CSR Report of Chinese textile and garment enterprises was held in Shanghai.

Based on the theme of sustainable development, the conference summed up the social responsibility work of the textile and garment industry for 2011-2012 years. According to the requirements of the "12th Five-Year" development plan of the textile industry on the work of social responsibility, the new ideas and work plans for the sustainable development of China's textile and garment industry were put forward.

Hongda, Dama, Hongdu, Xia Ke, Jingwei, Nanshan, Tiano, Koda, honglvlan and other eleven enterprises jointly issued the social responsibility report.

Zhu Hong, member of the Party committee and chief engineer of the Ministry of industry and information technology, Wang Tiankai, chairman of the China Textile Industry Federation, delivered a speech at the conference. Sun Ruizhe, vice chairman of the China Textile Industry Federation, delivered keynote speech to the conference. Zhang Tao, deputy director of the Association of state owned Assets Management Committee of the State Council, Shao Zhiqing, deputy director of Shanghai economic and Information Committee, Zhang Peirong, deputy head of Songjiang District people's Government of Shanghai, director of the political office of the Swedish Embassy in China, and counsellor Ms Viktoria Li attended the meeting.

Chen Weikang, deputy secretary and Deputy Secretary General of the China Textile Industry Federation, chaired the meeting.

In his speech, Zhu Hong gave a positive affirmation to the China Textile Industry Federation (hereinafter referred to as China Textile Union) for years of extensive and in-depth social responsibility construction in the industry, and promoted the healthy and sustainable development of the industry. He hoped that the China Textile Association would continue to play the role of guidance and coordination of the industry associations, and jointly with a wider range of stakeholders to jointly study and formulate long-term solutions to the interests of all parties, so as to promote the industry to develop in a low carbon, green and sustainable direction. At the same time, it is hoped that relevant departments, brands, suppliers and the public will take an active part in the joint efforts to shoulder corresponding social responsibilities.

President Wang Tiankai pointed out in his speech that there are opportunities and challenges in the current and even 12th Five-Year. In the face of the deterioration of the external macro environment, entrepreneurs should actively face the adjustment, rationally adjust the market expectations, pform the market structure, adjust the supply chain structure and improve labor productivity, and at the same time enhance risk management awareness, strengthen innovation capability, especially brand planning and investment, and strengthen the construction of social responsibility in all directions.

In his speech, Wang Tiankai called on the whole industry to thoroughly implement the Scientific Outlook on Development and actively implement the "development plan of the textile industry" in 12th Five-Year. It is imperative for the powerful nation to insist on accelerating the pformation of the mode of economic development as the main line, taking structural adjustment and industrial upgrading as the main direction of attack, and taking the integration of independent innovation, brand building and two integration as an important support. In order to improve the value chain and realize sustainable development, we should develop a modern textile industrial system with structural optimization, advanced technology, green environmental protection, high added value and strong employability, so as to lay a more solid foundation for the realization of a strong textile country.

In the keynote speech entitled "sustainable development: the future of China's textile and garment industry", the vice president said: "the social responsibility of the industry is not only a necessary way to achieve sustainable development, but also an important goal of sustainable development."

Sun Ruizhe said: from the responsibility point of view, China's textile and garment industry has the mission of three levels: micro, middle and macro.

First of all, at the micro level, the industry should protect the rights and interests of workers, equal opportunities and dignity, and achieve decent work. At the same time, it should also provide adequate and high-quality products, improve the standard of living and the quality of consumption, which is the responsibility of people, mainly workers and consumers.

From the meso level, we should maintain and improve the environment, improve the effective output rate of resources, and advocate a standardized, sustainable industrial order and social value, and promote the rule of law and civilization of the market and society. This is our responsibility to the environment and the Chinese society.

Finally, at the macro level, the textile and garment industry is a job intensive industry, because we also have the responsibility to provide, maintain and promote employment, protect the people's livelihood and national harmony. At the same time, in view of the important position of China's textile and apparel industry in the world's textile and apparel supply chain, we have the responsibility to stabilize and optimize the international supply chain and value chain, so that China can make the world benefit, which is our responsibility to the international community.

It can be seen that the responsibility of our industry is the "three dimensions" on the "three levels". Here, the three dimension is the three indispensable aspects of the Rio consensus on Sustainable Development: economy, society and environment.

Sun Ruizhe believes that the challenge of responsibility in the circulation and consumption links is the most serious area of industry development in the future, but these problems seem to have not received enough attention in the long term.

As for how to strengthen sustainable construction in the future, Sun Ruizhe put forward: "strengthening management system promotion, increasing economic performance of enterprises, strengthening disclosure of responsibility information, optimizing enterprise social performance, strengthening the whole value chain collaboration and improving the environmental performance of enterprises" new ideas, he said: our goal is to achieve sustainable development of society, environment and economy through the efforts of the whole industry.
