New Cotton Standards Began In September 1, 2013

From the quality and Technical Supervision Bureau of BINGTUAN, our country has revised the current cotton national standard.

It will be released in September 1st this year and will be implemented in September 1st next year.

The new standard changes involve 21 items, including color level, quality index and inspection method, and the relevant clauses of color level are mandatory clauses.

Compared with the original standard, the core content of the new standard is to abolish the grade, and the grade inspection items that have been applied in the cotton standard for 40 years will be abolished.

It is understood that the new cotton standard pays more attention to the internal quality of cotton, and the indexes closely related to the actual production needs of cotton spinning enterprises are more fully reflected in the standards, including impurity rate, foreign fiber and short staple rate, which is more advantageous to cotton spinning enterprises.

The promulgation and implementation of the new standard will change the traditional inspection method which used to rely on the sensory inspection of the inspectors. The cotton fiber tester with large capacity should be used to quickly test the cotton quality, and the grading standard of the cotton grade with color grade should be implemented so as to fully realize the instrument package inspection of the large package cotton foreskin, so as to realize the scientific and objective assessment of the cotton's internal quality.

In view of the fact that all cotton planting divisions of the Corps generally reflect the low grade of machine picked cotton, experts point out that the new standard has abolished the cotton grade and paid more attention to the internal quality and color of cotton.

In the future, the planting and harvesting machines of various divisions can increase investment in science and technology and develop new varieties according to the technical requirements of the new standards.
