PEAK Sports Is Expected To Go Public This Year.
In April 15, 2008, it was a memorable day for PEAK Sichuan company, because the Sichuan group of Fujian PEAK group, which is determined to build the first brand of Chinese basketball equipment, is officially open today.
On this special day, the author also had the honor to interview Mr. Xu Zhihua, general manager of Fujian PEAK group. Through the conversation with Mr. Xu, we learned that PEAK will have greater action in 08 years. Without exception, PEAK brand will enter the Hongkong stock market this year.
After many twists and turns of the PEAK, China's football has been depressed, but Xu Zhihua, who graduated from Sichuan University in 2001, is a real football fan.
However, as a senior manager of PEAK, he actually pays more attention to developing basketball. "Basketball is more suitable for China's national conditions."
Every school and every factory has a basketball court. In the economically developed southern area, every village has a basketball court.
In China, the number of basketball players is much higher than that of soccer players.
In the past more than 10 years, PEAK has been impressed by professional basketball players.
Xu Zhihua, the leader of PEAK, however, said that basketball has become the most successful project in China's professional operation, and the competition outside the field has become more intense in 2002.
In 2002, Anta formed an alliance with the CUBA, which was not favored by the sponsors, then followed the competition of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), with an exclusive sponsorship of 7 yuan a year for 20 million yuan.
Since then, competitors seeking to go beyond have begun to target foreign basketball teams.
The Li Ning Co has launched cross-border operations and has become a sponsor of Spain and Argentina national basketball teams.
In December 2005, PEAK successfully entered the home of NBA Houston rockets and became the sponsor of TOYOTA center. PEAK became the first Chinese sports brand to enter the NBA arena. Last summer, Houston Rockets player Sean Battier signed a contract with PEAK. With the advertisement of "I can play (I can infinity)", the 29 year old Battier was second only to Yao Ming and Mike Gerety in the position of the Rockets.
The "Battier 1 generation" basketball shoes he wore also appeared in the NBA arena.
In the fierce competition of PEAK, PEAK is also preparing to go public. In January 2005, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee formally announced that Adidas (Suzhou) Limited and Adidas Solomon group became partners of the 2008 Olympic Games.
Adidas will provide sports equipment including volunteers, staff, technical officials and torch relay personnel for the Beijing Olympic Games.
After becoming a Beijing Olympic partner, Adidas immediately raised its market performance expectations.
Although Lining lost to Adidas in the struggle for Beijing Olympic sponsors, after all, Hongkong was a strong force in the domestic sporting goods industry. After listing in Hongkong in 2004, the market value of Hong Kong has exceeded HK $20 billion 600 million.
Since listing, Lining has been promoting internationalization at all speed. Besides sponsoring overseas sports teams and international competitions, Lining has also appeared in the NBA arena.
Other local sporting goods brands including PEAK are also making efforts.
In Xu Zhihua's view, to speed up the gap with international brands, the most important thing is speed.
"The domestic sporting goods market has developed very rapidly in recent years, and the overall market is growing at an annual rate of 20%? 30%."
PEAK's growth last year was as high as 80%, and this year it is expected to exceed 100%.
PEAK is also preparing to go public.
"Sports sponsorship must first clarify what your strategy is, not sponsorship. PEAK's strategy is very clear. First of all, strive for the first brand in the field of basketball.
After locking this goal, our thinking is very clear. What we are looking for is the influential basketball tournaments, which will not blindly sponsor.
This year, an important strategic core of the company is to prepare for the listing. We have made full preparations in the early stage, and this year the company will be listed in Hongkong without accident.
Xu Zhihua said confidently.
