The International Footwear Standardization Conference Was Held Successfully, And The New Project Proposed By China Was Approved

Recently, ISO/TC216/WG1, CEN/TC309/WG1 and WG2, CEN/TC309&ISO/TC216 conferences were held in the Spanish Association for Standards and Accreditation (AENOR) in Madrid, Spain. The meeting was attended by more than 20 representatives from nearly 10 countries, including Europe, the United States and China. China Leatherwear Zhang Weijuan and Chen Jingyi from Shoes Industry Research Institute, Lu Hua from China Leather Association and Chen Xuecan from Fujian Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau attended the meeting as Chinese representatives.

The ISO/TC216/WG1 "Footwear and Microbiology" working group meeting was chaired by Zhang Weijuan, the convener of the working group. The meeting reviewed the progress of ISO/DIS16187 Test Method for Evaluation of Antibacterial Resistance of Footwear and Footwear Components and DIS voting, discussed and handled the feedback of the standard, and made corresponding editorial changes to the standard. The meeting decided that, in order to make the standard more perfect in form, after the end of the meeting, the draft standard would be consulted again for a period of one month, and the FDIS version was expected to be completed before the end of the year.

China put forward two proposals for new work items at the meeting. After intense discussion and China's active efforts, the meeting agreed that the new project "Test Method for Fungal Resistance Evaluation of Shoes and Footwear Components" was approved. In addition, after the meeting, the countries will learn more about China's new "Footwear and Footwear Components - Dissolution Safety of Antibacterial Products", and discuss whether to establish the project at the next working group meeting.

At the CEN/TC309&ISO/TC216 meeting, the liaison person from ISO informed ISO Standards Zhang Weijuan, convener of ISO/TC216/WG1, reported on the progress of standard development, the convening of the meeting and the composition of experts in the working group. The conveners of CEN/TC309/WG1 and WG2 also reported on the work of the working group in the past year.

The meeting discussed the business plan of ISO/TC216 and decided to start the revision of the plan, with the participation of China, the United States and five countries from Europe. The meeting discussed and voted on the Test Method for Evaluation of Fungal Resistance of Footwear and Footwear Components proposed by ISO/TC216/WG1, and determined that China would lead the development of the standard. The participating countries also included the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and other seven countries. In the near future, China will submit standard proposals and draft standards to ISO/TC216 to officially start the development of this standard. In addition, ISO/TC216 has voted on other 32 standard preparation and revision projects to arrange the work progress for the next year.

When discussing the work related to CEN/TC309, Germany was appointed as the convener of the newly established CEN/TC309/WG4 working group, and the ISO/TC137 standard was timely notified and transformed into the corresponding EU standard.

In addition, as an observer of CEN/TC309, the Chinese delegation attended the meetings of CEN/TC309/WG1 and WG2 working groups. At the meeting, 35 standard preparation and revision projects were discussed, and the work progress of the next year was arranged. Chinese representatives actively expressed their opinions and were effectively adopted.

The ISO/TC216/WG1 "Footwear and Microbiology" working group was established in 2010 and was convened by Chinese experts. At present, the project ISO16187 is nearing the end. In order to continue to participate in the development of international standards and strive for more Chinese led standard projects, after long-term preparation, China put forward two suggestions for subsequent standard projects at the meeting. In recent years, Chinese representatives have continuously participated in the development and revision of international footwear standards, actively communicated with international peers, and put forward opinions on standards.
