Pu Yuan is located in the center of Hang Jia Hu plain. In ancient times, there was a deep lake near the town. The water network was dense, the land was fertile, and the water quality was excellent. It was especially suitable for the development of sericulture industry.

In the Tang Dynasty, a man named Zhuzi moved from Central Plains to Hangzhou, bringing the more advanced weaving technology in Central Plains.

When the technology was passed to the Pu Yuan, it was improved by the local skilled craftsmen.

The quality of raw silk materials plus advanced weaving technology, the production of Pu silk, fine texture, soft and smooth, bright colors, strong fastness.

Pu silk and the then Hangzhou Textile, Hu crepe and Luo forging were called "four famous silk fabrics in the south of the Yangtze River".

In the 70s of last century, the Pu Yuan spring production cooperative started with three hand-held flat knitting machines, weaving the bulky shirts and polypropylene knitted sweaters, and the first sweater of Pu Yuan was born.

Zhu Mingjie, Secretary of the Party committee of Pu Yuan Town, said that because of the small size, low cost and convenient operation of the woven flat knitting machine, it was not long before every household in Pu Yuan town had such a machine.

Just as they had looms in their families, the new entrepreneurial story was revived.

In 1988, the capital town of Pu Yuan built more than 50 business rooms on the south side of the town, forming the original woolen sweater market.

As the ancient town of more than 700 years ago, the initial establishment of the general row of teeth, Pu Yuan sweater market attracted sweaters and sweater producers across the country to enter the market to set up pactions.

22 years later, Pu Yuan has become the largest gathering center of sweaters in the country.
