Crocs "Ugly Shoes" China Suffers From Counterfeiting
Crocs is popular all over the world, but only 1/10 of its price, similar to its quality, will eventually make it popular in China, but it will also recede like tide.
A year ago, a tidal wave of people wearing a pair of wind leaking shoes would be looked at by countless pedestrians.
The star was dressed up as an avant-garde, Bush wore black socks to wear but was ironically caught up with the wind; the people who liked it were very popular, and those who didn't like it sneered at it. In any case, the strange plastic shoes produced by Crocs (Crocs), which were nicknamed "ugly shoes" by foreign magazines, had become an indisputable fact in the past two years.
Even in China, which is the world's first footwear export country, it has attracted wide attention.
Since its establishment in Shanghai in 2006, Crocs has entered the Chinese public view with its small shop full of colorful shoes.
Mainland Chinese consumers who see these unique shapes of shoes from various fashion magazines keep up with the trend. In the city, the twenty or thirty year old tide travelled to the seaside in their shopping streets.
But soon the ugly shoes were no longer the patrers of the tide, and the migrant workers at the construction site also wore this kind of tide shoes, and the aunt in the residential area dragged it to buy vegetables every day.
The style of the ugly shoes they wear is no different from the genuine ones, and the colors are equally colourful. The only difference is that the crocodile sign on the buttons is missing.
Facts have proved that the strength of China's footwear industry is far from being deserved.
Last summer, the counterfeit products of these shoes began to appear, and this year is becoming more and more intense.
From the beginning of summer this year, the shoe is full of holes everywhere on the flyover, beside the subway, around the school and under the office buildings.
There are 200 people who buy a pair of flowers, but nine times out of ten they buy 20 yuan from the stalls.
The popularity of ugly shoes has not only made people in the city find a new magic weapon to cool up, but also brought new business opportunities to hundreds of shoe factories in Fujian and Yiwu, so that street vendors have a new power to stay in the streets.
As a matter of fact, they haven't been selling the same type of shoes in uniform fashion for a long time.
Every summer, vendors from all over the country sell countless cheap slippers from shoe factories in Fujian and Yiwu.
There are more than 100 kinds of colors.
Crocs, located in the ten mile Fort shop in Beijing's halls store, is located on the 2 floor, which sells hundreds of pairs of shoes a day when business is good.
Passing through the shopping arcade is a footbridge. There are several stalls selling fake Crocs cave shoes on the flyover.
20 yuan and a pair are the 1/10 of the genuine price.
The stall owner said it was selling well because of small profits but quick turnover.
What's more, the shoes in their shoes are exactly the same as those in the real products.
At least now it seems that this has not affected Joseph D. Ranieri Jr., President of Crocs China, for its enthusiasm for the Chinese market. Joseph
He expressed his satisfaction with the Chinese market for the first financial weekly: "in 2006, after the establishment of China's regional headquarters, the important strongholds of North China and Southern China were established in the market of Beijing and Shenzhen last year, and the expansion of Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan and other second-tier cities began to outperform our expectations."
Although he refused to disclose specific sales figures, daily observations can help us to understand the extent of its market trend.
A shoe purchaser at Ito's Yang Hua Tang shopping mall in Beijing said she bought this shoe for the first time, because "everyone is wearing on the street."
In the Crocs store of Zhengda square in Shanghai, Mrs. Zhou bought 3 pairs of shoes of different sizes at once, because "last year they were old, and bought a pair for the whole family this year".
But can the expansion of the two or three tier cities be as smooth as those of the first tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai?
200 yuan and a pair of plastic shoes are contrary to traditional consumption values. These cities may have a love of outdoor and aquatic sports. However, it takes a lot of consideration to buy a pair of shoes that look almost the same as fake products in a month's meals.
In fact, the embarrassment for the Chinese tide people is that they can easily discharge water and sand, and they can do it, but they do not say that they can discharge dust.
Americans and Europeans are fond of it, but there are few people in it, so it's not fashionable at all, at least comfortable to wear.
But in China, more is not heard about how comfortable the shoes are, but how fashionable the stars are.
In addition, whether in the US or Europe, people always seem to have enough time and interest to go outside. A comfortable outdoor shoe has become a real demand at this time. But in China, people seem to prefer to play mahjong at home or houton friends to eat Hesse. Outdoor shoes can only be a decoration at this time.
Once a neighbor's aunt is wearing a pair of shoes that are difficult to distinguish between real and fake, they will go out to buy vegetables.
Once the value orientation is comfortable, Crocs can only pray that China's environmental index will surpass the United States as soon as possible.
The comfort index of flip flops may not be easily surpassed before China's sky becomes bluer than the United States.
When asked whether the fake products had an impact on Crocs's business in China and whether the company took measures, Joseph renali did not reply.
But what we can see is that Crocs, which has been promoted by word of mouth abroad, has begun to promote brand in China.
In October 2007, Crocs began to sponsor some sports events, such as the first "China Cup" sailing competition, to take the opportunity to publicize its water sports function. In addition, the Crocs sailing season was launched three nights in Dameisha, Shenzhen.
But relying on these activities, it is obvious that it is still difficult for consumers to buy 20 pieces of shoes that are used to share the 200 shoes.
A wholesaler in Fujian has bought a batch of shoes from the foundries every week, wholesale to Shenzhen and other places.
From his hand, he sold thousands of shoes at wholesale price of 8 yuan a day.
He also opened a direct selling shop on Taobao, selling an average of nearly 100 pairs per day.
He explained that the shoes he sold were cheap because "this is the second batch of the factory's products."
Originally exported to abroad, but when the quality inspection, there will be a group of unqualified shoes left in the country, these shoes are the goods he is holding now.
Because he was a relative in the factory, so he only collected material money.
Chen's OEM factory supplies the hole shoes of the whole WAL-MART supermarket in the United States. He says that the shoes on his side are not genuine products of Crocs.
But because Crocs's shoes are not patented, so long as the shoe buttons do not make their patent crocodile heads, they will not bother the US Department of Commerce to negotiate with the relevant departments of China.
As for the quality, it is said that there is no problem.
Crocs has always advertised the use of unique materials to make shoes more comfortable. But when asked whether the materials used for counterfeit shoes were different from those of genuine products, Chen said, "all EVA materials are used. The same thing is known in this industry.
Their authentic products are only 10 Fen of each pair. They have proprietary deodorants.
Boss Chen told the first financial weekly: "now, there are dozens of factories in Fujian to make this hole shoe, and tens of millions of pairs can be made in one year.
The machines of those factories are idle as well, and now the shoes must be earned.
By contrast, the average price of Crocs genuine products in a big city is about 100 pairs per day.
But one thing he still can't figure out: "where do you think this shoe looks good?
When I wear slippers in my family, I don't think there's a belt behind it.
The young people now want to go everywhere to wear it.
Crocs, which is extremely competitive in foreign countries, has encountered tens of millions of counterfeit shoes in China, and most of them wear the wind instead of the practical ones. Under such circumstances, Crocs has opened up so many stores, and is really not afraid to return home one day?
