    Only in the early July, less than a week ago, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang and many other places held a new Silk Road seminar at the same time, competing for the core position. At one time, new words such as "air Silk Road", "iron and steel silk road" and "online Silk Road" emerge in endlessly.


    "The construction of the new silk road is actually a new round of western development." Luo Zhe, director of the Economic Research Institute of Gansu Academy of Social Sciences, said that the new Silk Road Economic Belt is a long-term strategy.


    A report issued by China think tank in June 28th predicted that the new Silk Road Economic Belt would take 35 years to be built. Zhou Qiang, deputy director of the West Development Office of the Gansu provincial development and Reform Commission, said the new silk road needs top-level design guidance and coordination, but the national planning has not yet been officially announced.


       The temptation of big cake


    When the western development strategy was implemented for many years and the western provinces did not successfully complete the curve overtaking, the regional economic strategy, such as the eastern leap forward, the rise of central China, and the revitalization of the old industrial base in Northeast China, had been put forward, which made the dividend of Western Development policy diluted.

    According to Luo Zhe, director of the Institute of economics, Gansu Academy of Social Sciences, Gansu first responded to the strategic vision of the new Silk Road Economic Belt at the central level last September 8th.
