In March 14th, when he received a telephone call from reporters, Ding Youyi, chairman of WorldCom Footwear Co., Ltd., was probing into the "enemy situation" at a job fair in Dongguan, Guangdong.
Before Ding Youyi left for Dongguan, the official news from Dongguan indicated that in January this year, the export volume of footwear in Dongguan dropped by 40% compared to the same period last year.
At the job fair, Ding Youyi and his colleagues in Dongguan seldom talked about the weather.
"According to the information they have disclosed, the enterprises in Dongguan start up slower than Quanzhou, but now the production of many enterprises has gradually recovered."
Ding Youyi said.
It seems that the actual situation of Dongguan shoe enterprises is slightly better than that of hearsay.

According to 2007 figures, Adidas purchased 201 million pairs of shoes on the Chinese market, accounting for 49% of its total global purchases.

Chen Ronghui, President of Quanzhou Leather Association, also believes that Adidas and other international giants have high requirements for product environmental standards. There is still a gap in the current level of most Quanzhou shoe companies.

In the March 7th survey of Adidas, Quanzhou was not the only one to investigate.
According to Chen Ronghui, after ending the inspection in Quanzhou, Adidas also went to Putian to conduct a survey of the local shoe industry.
The news from Quanzhou's foreign trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau also showed that, because the standards could not meet the requirements of the international buyers, some of the orders that Quanzhou shoe enterprises could seize had already flowed to Putian area.
