The second Brazil St Paul GOTEX international textile and apparel Procurement Exhibition opened in St Paul North Exhibition Center in October 27th.

Nearly 200 exhibitors from China, Brazil, Italy and other countries participated in the exhibition.

Jiang Hui, President of the China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, said that China is a big textile country. Its annual textile and garment trade volume accounts for 1/3 of the world total.

"We have good fabrics, and Brazil has an advantage in design. If China and Brazil strengthen cooperation, 1 plus 1 is greater than 2, I believe we can create good clothing brands and let China and Pakistan share the same brand of clothing in the streets and alleys of the world's major cities."

"The quality of China's fabrics is very good, which can meet all kinds of sewing needs and can maximize the realization of my design".

Jessica, a girl from Brazil, has just participated in the fashion design competition under the international textile and clothing exhibition. She made 4 beautiful skirts from Chinese fabrics and won the award of fashion design competition.

Learning fashion design for 5 years, Jessica used a lot of fabrics, but these fabrics still make her feel amazing.

"The quality of China's fabrics is very good, it can meet all kinds of sewing needs, and can maximize the realization of my design."

At the booth, Ge Hong Gang sent away two Brazil retailers.

"They looked at a blue men's shirt and made a follow-up appointment with me after the exhibition."

Ge Hong is the manager of Shanghai Shen Da import and export company. In the past two or three years, the European market is not good, the European and American orders of the company have dropped by about 20%, and the cost of labor has increased by nearly 20%.

Many Brazil businesses are also eager to get close to Chinese products.

"Chinese products have good quality and price advantages."

Manuel, who holds a pile of fabric samples, said that most of the imported fabrics in Brazil came from Europe and America, but most of those fabrics were made in China. "Why not directly look for Chinese enterprises to buy them?"

In order to provide access to Latin American channels for Chinese companies such as Shenda, and to provide a platform for Chinese buyers such as Manuel to directly contact Chinese enterprises, the GOTEX exhibition came into being.

It is co sponsored by the textile industry branch of the China Council for the promotion of international trade, the China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, the China (Brazil) investment and development trade center and the Brazil FCEM international exhibition company.

"This is an exhibition of the whole industry chain, involving products in every link, and the number of exhibitors in the textile industry is more than that in the clothing industry", said Pan Faming, deputy general manager of China (Brazil) investment development and Trade Center.

From yarn to fabric to finished products, the products of every link in the whole industry chain of textile and garment industry can be found.

"I can not only touch Chinese enterprises, but also see many representatives of Brazil manufacturers, who are our potential customers," said the head of St Paul sports apparel company ELITE.

For Brazil enterprises, attending this exhibition is like having close contact with the advanced technology and latest style of this industry at home.

"China's exports to Brazil are mostly semi-finished products, and in the long run, it can help them expand their scale and promote industrial development."

Textile and raw materials are the third main products of China's export to Brazil. In recent years, there are two main problems. First, Pakistan continues to maintain anti-dumping duties on some Chinese products. Two is the fierce competition of similar products in India, Peru and Argentina.

A statement issued recently by the Brazil textile and garment industry association said that in the past 12 months, the local textile and garment industry has lost 14 thousand jobs.

Vivi Haidu, editor in chief of textile and clothing industry in Brazil, believes that the increase of unemployment rate is the result of a series of factors, such as the heavy burden of corporate tax and the loss of international competitiveness.

Reducing corporate tax has become one of the problems that Brazil President Rousseff needs to solve immediately after his re-election.

Cooperation and complementary advantages are the breakthrough points to enhance the competitiveness of Brazil's textile and clothing industry in the future.

Roberto, President of Brazil Industrial Association, said: "Brazil clothing enterprises welcome the cost-effective Chinese fabrics, but worry about the entry of Chinese finished garments."

This shows from one side that China's textile and garment enterprises have a win-win potential with Brazil in terms of fabric and technology advantages, investing in factories or establishing marketing networks.

According to a set of data from the China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, in 2013, China's total exports of textiles and clothing to Brazil amounted to US $4 billion 100 million, of which textile exports amounted to US $2 billion 370 million and clothing exports amounted to US $1 billion 700 million.

"It can be seen that China's exports to Brazil are more semi finished, which is in line with Brazil's demand and will help expand its scale and promote industrial development in the long run."

    Jiang Hui said.

Jiang gives two suggestions: differential development and "cultural licensing".

We must develop differentiated products instead of homogeneous competition.

"Brazil should find its own advantages, such as Brazil is a big sports country, can we focus on building sports clothing, including all kinds of functional fabrics needed."

The clothing industry inject cultural elements, which can add value to the product.

Take sportswear as an example. "An ordinary sportswear can only cost tens of dollars. If you add a star signature, you can sell hundreds of dollars.

Brazil's famous brand of cool slippers is Havana, which introduces the concept of cultural creativity. Small pair of slippers can sell hundreds of yuan in China, Jiang Hui said.

Before the exhibition, the Chinese sports clothing brand "360 degree" announced that it will invest 33 million Real (about 90 million yuan), plans to set up 10 representative offices in Brazil, the first batch to put 150 kinds of sports clothing products to the Brazil market, and will consider the future to invest and set up factories in Brazil.

Xu Jianping, an underwear manufacturer from Dongguan, said he was also interested in the Mexico market in addition to Brazil.

"I reckon that if we calculate the cost of logistics and labor, it will be cheaper to set up factories in Mexico and sell it to the destination country than to set up factories in China."

When Chinese companies are looking to Latin America, the Chinese market is also opening the door.

At the seminar on textile and garment industry held at the exhibition, the China Textile Import and Export Association promised that the fashion training base in Shanghai will provide free exhibition hall for some Brazil enterprises.

"Brazil is a free market, free market is not afraid of competition, and competition and cooperation promote technological pformation, so that an enterprise and an industry can develop well.

For consumers, the entry of Chinese products means that consumers have more choices and can buy better products at cheaper prices.

Moto A, who is engaged in the garment processing industry, said: "openness can develop."
