On the other hand, the total number of foreign retail outlets in 2013 was 31 (excluding home appliances and electrical appliances). Compared with the statistics of the previous year, the number of foreign-funded stores has closed to 18 stores, and the number of Customs stores has increased by 72.2% over the same period last year.
Industry analysts pointed out that the development of the hypermarket model in China's second tier cities has been difficult. The three or four tier cities are still viable, but whether they are suitable for the existence of WAL-MART, Carrefour and other multinational hypermarkets, and whether their time, energy and financial resources can be obtained corresponding market returns is still unknown.
