    How To Manage Narcissistic Employees

    Narcissistic employees are usually more appreciated by their superiors. Their creativity is highly rated and their personal abilities are generally recognized.

    The authors point out that, compared with teams with no narcissistic employees, the quality of the solutions put forward by teams with such employees is better than that of teams without narcissistic employees.

    Is that really true?

    Jack Concaro, a professor at the school of industrial and labor relations at Cornell University, conducted a survey on the ability and performance of narcissistic employees with Professor Frank Flynn of Stanford University business school.

    Before the experiment, they first conducted a narcissistic index test on all the subjects.

    In one of the experiments, gang Carol and team members divided 76 students into two groups. One group would watch a movie and introduce the film to another group of members.

    The experimental results showed that when there were no narcissistic subjects in the four groups, team discussions were conducted in accordance with rules and regulations, lacking creative highlights and topic leaders; but when the four were all narcissistic, the discussions were frequent because of various creativity, but members could hardly convince each other and stagnate.

    When the number of narcissistic members accounted for half of the total, the team discussion was the most smooth, the topic leader and the followers were in their respective positions, and the number of effective recommendations was the most.
