No matter how modern industry progresses, there will always be so many shoemaker who insist on traditional crafts and hand sewing.

    Outdoor shoes

It has been customized for customers. Some families have run more than five generations. Maybe they can complete a pair of perfect hiking shoes in a few weeks. The cost is not bad, and some even exceed $one thousand.

In 1965, William Sweasy, the founder of the company, saw the European style he saw in the Alps.

The design was brought back to the United States and began developing its own product line.

    His first paragraph

It was named Voyageur (Traveler) and sold well for many years until the company changed its name in 1971.

50 years later, Vasque's Asian factory has only 4 hours to produce a pair of shoes.

"Most of our shoemaking processes are done in a large factory production line, but Gore-Tex shoes need to be built in different temperature control plants because we have unique 3D socks technology."

Vasque product director Brian Hall introduced.

Every shoe will be immersed in water to do the leakage test. "No matter how small a crack or breakage is, the water will get into it. You will know it later," Hall said. However, there are few such flaws. "During the past 10 years, the leakage is extremely rare."

In 1932, the United States was in the great depression.

Charles Danner started his shoemaking business in this year.

Because he believes that no matter what the economic environment is, exquisite handwork must have a market.

In 1936, Danner moved to Portland, Oregon, where logging workers needed boots to adapt to the harsh working environment in the Pacific Northwest.

By 40s, a pair of Danner boots that had undergone great vicissitudes were displayed. This is not only a witness of hard work of lumberjack, but also the best proof of Charles Danner's elaborate shoemaking.

From 60 to 70s, people fell in love with backpackers.

In 1979, Danner took the lead in the use of GORE-TEX waterproof lining in its own boots. This is also the first case of global shoe making enterprises using GORE-TEX.

Until now, Danner and GORE are still working closely together.

As a tradition that always adheres to tradition.

Danner also has many old shoemaker, Alfredo Contreras is the iconic figure.

He began to study shoemaking when he was 9 years old. He entered Danner in 1972 and has been in the field for 43 years.

After entering Danner, Contreras started from the most basic work, from leather cutter to designer.

During this period, he created Danner classic Mountain Light, "a whole cowhide made upper, less seams, less water penetration, and less chance to repair sewing threads."

Another masterpiece of Contreras in Danner is the lightweight version of Mountain Pass and Mountain Light.

"I'm the fifth generation shoemaker of our family, and I think no man in our family has been persuaded to do it," Pete Limmer graduated from high school in 70s in the last century and devoted himself to the family shoe business.

Today, Limmer has completed the customized shoes of customers in batches. One day can complete 2/3 of a shoe, each part is hand-made, and each product is tailored to the customer's foot shape and preferences.

The price of natural products is not bad. Limmer's hand-made shoes cost at least $700 for each pair, even though his order is still 18 months away.

"Our shoes store has been like this for the past 40 years."

Speaking of quality, Limmer said he liked the outsole of Norway best. "If you have a pair of Norway outsole shoes, no matter what the shoes wear, the shoes will keep very well," Limmer said. "Comfort is always the most important consideration for shoes."

Alex Kovalenko is an emigrant from Ukraine, where everyone in his family is a shoemaker.

In 1998, when their family emigrated to the United States, he found a cobbler's job in Esatto. He was one of the three employees, and now Kovalenko has become the owner of the shop.

"The biggest advantage of our shoes is that your feet will feel very happy when you put them on," Kovalenko said. He made a pair of shoes for about 40 hours and sold for 899 dollars and a pair.

What is the difference between a good pair of shoes and a pair of best quality shoes? Kovalenko says that the color of shoes can be distinguished.

Generally speaking, the darker the color of leather, the better the quality of shoes.

Esatto's shoes are made of leather from Norway. The cortex is the best, and cattle grow up eating organic grass.

"The cortex is thicker and the feet feel soft."

This is a truly limited shoemaker brand. In the 60s of last century, shop owner John Calden began making shoes in San Francisco.

Calden majored in Criminology when he was a local trading school. At that time, he chose a leather technology for simplicity. He never thought that he could not get rid of it and had great interest in leather technology. After graduation, he gave up his job and moved to the shoemaking industry.

In 1978, a shop named after its name was opened.

At first, his work was a sketch paper, a pen and a customer's foot sketch. He drew the outline of the shoes according to these drawings. Then he used a tape measure to measure some details of his feet to ensure the feet fit perfectly, comfortably, and finally molded.

The shoes made by Calden are extremely durable and can even be worn for life.

One of his earliest customers, an administrator of Yellowstone National Park, ordered a pair of shoes in 1978 and was still well dressed until today. The only thing that changed was that Calden had replaced the sole for him.

Although Calden is extremely concerned about functionality, his shoes are not the least fashionable.

"You must make your work worth 1000 dollars."
