China Wants To Build Its Own Fashion Industry?

In recent years, many new designers have emerged in China, attracting the attention of foreign fashion industry, but still have little voice in fashion power. Can China successfully resist Western forces and create their own fashion industry? The Life of Luxury producer Neil Koenig has published the following articles in Broadcasting British Corporation BBC, analyzing Chinese fashion from the perspective of the growth of Chinese new designers, and beginning to challenge western countries.

In mid February, Chinese designer Mamasa (Masha Ma) was busy and busy in Paris fashion week March.

"Time has always been my biggest challenge."

    She said.

    In fashion, time is money.

Mamasa studied at the central Saint Martin School of art and design in London.

As a bachelor's and master's degree, she served as design assistant for Veronique Branquinho and Alexander McQueen.

She also won awards including Lancome color fashion and creative competition, Fashion Fringe fashion design competition and WGSN breakthrough designer.

Miss Ma said that her business development colleagues told her that if her new store could not be opened on time, "it's like throwing iPhone6 into the river, and it can no longer boot."

Mamasa is one of the most famous Chinese fashion designers in recent years.

People think that Chinese are better at manufacturing than creating, and they intend to challenge this existing concept.

"We Chinese have not encouraged innovation for a long time," said Zhang Yu, editor in chief of VOGUE clothing and beauty. "So everyone says that China has no good designers and is excusable."

At Mamasa's show, she thought the outline of the design was simple and important.

But Ms Zhang believes that this situation is changing rapidly. Just like Chinese artists are rising, she has seen this phenomenon in other fields, such as the fashion industry.

"This generation of designers, they have been educated in China and the west, so they have the ability of two-way thinking."

    She added.

"They will produce some new ideas, and the Chinese will learn quickly."

    Ma Sha Sha

It is the typical representative of fresh blood.

She was born in Beijing and studied at the central Saint Martin Institute in London.

For her, Chinese fashion is not old at all. "

When I was born, there were no dragons and Phoenix rugs everywhere.

It was just after the cultural revolution that everyone wore the same dress regardless of social status.

    She recalls.

When she grew up, she stayed with her grandmother for a long time. Her grandmother had great influence on her.

Grandma is not a famous actress. Miss Ma remembers that she lived very elegantly and exquisitely, and was rarely seen in China at that time.

At first, Ms. Ma studied art, but when she saw an article on designer Alexander McQueen in fashion magazine, she became interested in fashion and walked on this road.

    "I was shocked.

I can't believe fashion can also be presented.

It's too artistic to describe that feeling in words. "

    She recalls.

She is deeply attracted by fashion, because it can affect people's life.

"Artists are selfish in a way," she said.

Because this field is more of an expression of their views, designers want to use their learning to make our lives better.

For Ma, there are several key factors to form a fashion that can go out of China and move farther.

    One is to use colors.

"The color must be close to the people. It's not very light. It can be red and green, but it must be ornamental."

    She said.

The other is the design of the profile, which is concise, and this is not always easy to achieve.

The third point is more difficult to define and implement. Ms. Ma believes that good design needs to be linked to religious or sacred feelings.

She feels that Chinese culture will help to embody this feeling.

"This will be the watershed that distinguishes good designers from design masters."

    She said.

Many designers agree that it takes a lot of time, effort and experience to form a design style that can stand out on the world stage.

Gao Yang Simon Gao is another Chinese designer. He is also debating whether the success of design depends on the formation of a more international style.

He often travels around the world to try to feel more different cultures.

He said he could see the result of his work through his works: "my works are all related to these experiences."

Gao Yang has his own views on Design: many

    Designer

The buyers, including the shopkeepers we came into contact with, are what we call the rich two generation, but the word "rich" has many meanings, one is material wealth, the other is spiritual wealth.

Making clothes not only depends on material, but also needs ideal support.

Finally, whether we can succeed or not depends on the right time, the right place and the right people.

But what has become of a distinctive style? Mr. Gao said he has made progress in the business field, and according to his statement, he has begun to make profits.

Ma Ma Sha talked about her goal not only to become a designer, but to become a "brand".

Although she knew it was not a simple matter, she had already thought of the future plan.

Now, she has opened several physical stores in China and plans to build a supply chain network across the country.

At the same time, Paris also has her studio, and she hopes to further expand the global market in the future.

Over the past ten years, thanks to the growth of fashion consumption, fashion magazine media has grown rapidly in China.

But how many of these new Chinese designer brand dreams can come true?

Zhang's editor in chief of VOGUE clothing and beauty is worried. To some extent, business challenges are more difficult to control than pure design.

You may be a talented designer, but it does not mean that you can be handy in business.

Shenzhen is an industrial base for Chinese women's wear and original design. At least four clothing companies are applying for IPO this year.

Fashion week and Showroom mode are also developing step by step in China.

The above is the opening ceremony of the first Shenzhen fashion week in March 19th.

Fashion is driven by commerce. Chinese designers slowly understand that only the commercially defined fashion and the consumer's understanding of fashion are a kind of fashion, and fashion consumption can be aroused.

What we often see is the world's top fashion brands, fashion clothes design, etc. but there has been a lack of Chinese elements and China's voice. Even many big brands have the courage to use Chinese elements. But Chinese fashion designers can hardly get some elements from other countries to come in, which also takes a long time.

Looking for new positioning in the global fashion industry chain through the study of global fashion culture and the humanistic insight of consumers is perhaps an opportunity for the development of China's fashion industry.

China's fashion industry is developed in the impact and imitation of foreign culture. Therefore, China is still a pupil in the global fashion industry, but after all, it has been learning and growing fast.
