Polyester fabric It can purify formaldehyde, ammonia, acetic acid and other substances, and some acrylic fibers can remove ammonia by chemical absorption, while another polyester has a strong removal effect on acetaldehyde, and acetaldehyde is the main component of tobacco.

    The research team led by Shen Yong, a nanomaterials developed under the action of light, can degrade harmful organic compounds such as formaldehyde and benzene in the air. These organic substances will be decomposed into water and carbon dioxide, so as to achieve the effect of purifying the air. After identification, the research results are set up in one function, such as cleaning, purifying air, antibacterial, deodorizing and anti ultraviolet.

    Speaking of the initial project, Professor Shen Yong told reporters: "now many news reports have children sitting on the newly bought new car, or live in a new house soon leukemia, although now medical can not be sure that formaldehyde and other harmful substances are the main cause of the disease, but we still hope to find a kind of material that can purify the air to avoid air pollution harm to the human body."

    In continuous research, he found nano photocatalytic materials and Textile fiber It can be used as an efficient and durable photocatalytic and other multifunctional textile, which can degrade or decompose volatile organic compounds in the environment. It can be applied to daily life and some special occasions to achieve "purify the air".

    What is even more surprising is that the product not only purify the air, but also has many functions, such as UV protection, antibacterial and deodorizing. In contrast, Japan's air purification textiles appear to have a single function and are inconvenient to use.

    However, a lot of research work needs to be done to combine nano-sized photocatalytic materials with textile fibers.

    A team has adopted the solution blending or melt blending method to mix nanomaterials and fiber polymers to produce functional fibers and fabrics. This solves the problem that nano molecules need to be firmly combined with fibers. However, a new problem arises: the nanomaterials made are very easy to reunite, and may be accompanied by impurities, which are not easy to control.

    Another way is to glue nanomaterials onto the surface of textiles through adhesives. And this kind of textile is not easy to clean, and the fabric feels rough.

    Through nearly ten years of research, Shen Yong finally found a solution: using structural modification of chemical methods, so that nanomaterials with reactive chemical groups can directly interact with the fiber reaction to achieve covalent bond tightly linked. This chemical combination not only ensures the fabric's handle, does not contain any adhesive, but also uses the characteristics of fabric raw materials, green environmental protection.

    He said that the most important thing in the project is to break through the relevant technology of nano particles in uniform dispersion and its fast combination with fiber, and have completed a number of technological innovations.

    Through this project, his team developed the "one-step" hydrolysis preparation technology and production technology of modified nano titanium dioxide on textile functional finishing, developed a feasible finishing process for modified nano titanium dioxide on textiles, solved the problem of uniform dispersion of nano particles on fiber dimension and its fastness to fiber, developed a series of textile photocatalyst, antibacterial, anti ultraviolet multi-functional finishing agent, and established the production base of nano multi-functional textile and garment fabrics, household textiles and automotive interior textiles.

    Quick tackling key problems need integration of production, teaching and research

    Speaking of the success of this project, Shen Yong said that in research, the research and development mode of production, teaching and research is indispensable.

    For the early development and success, Shen Yong's R & D team has cooperated with a number of enterprises, adopted the responsibility system of the project leader, and made full use of the existing integration conditions of production, study, research and utilization of the project units in product development. The technology developed rapidly was applied to scale production, which shortened the process and time for the completion of technology and product development. The production of products mainly utilized the existing production conditions of the project units, while the more professional processing was entrusted to the professional manufacturers to produce according to the technical requirements, so as to ensure the normal investment and cost of the project, and to promote the linkage development of other related industries.

    The R & D team will transform the research results in a timely manner through the production, teaching and research platform, and provide good atmosphere and necessary supporting measures for the transformation of technological achievements.

    Reporters also learned that the R & D team will continue to rely on the Shanghai R & D public service platform, "Shanghai fashion creative design and digital technology public service platform", which was set up in 2013.     At present, this research has applied for more than ten invention patents, six of which have been authorized, and many have filled the gaps in China.

    Shen Yong said: "at present, we have reached a consensus with the relevant enterprises, will continue to deepen cooperation in the application of nanomaterials in textile materials, manufacture related raw materials, develop and endow textiles with more functions, expand their application areas, and also hope that more nanoscale textile products will be available soon."
