The Corner Is The Prime Location For The Location Of Commercial Shops.
From the rest of the world, the most memorable shops are almost all those located on the corner, such as Tokyo's Yi Dan department store, Paris's Le Peng Marge department store, and Messi's department store in New York. They often act as landmarks.
After the completion of the residential building in Beijing, I left a street corner.
The original plan is a five or six storey commercial corner building, which is echoed with several fine and tall residential buildings and diagonal shops. Finally, it forms a fully designed and smart residential district.
But a few years later, when the foundation of the corner was excavated, we knew that the original plan would be abandoned.
Although it is still a corner building now, it has changed from six layers to twenty-three layers, all of which use steel structure and glass wall, and its form is ugly.
Every time I passed there, I could not help but regret that I had destroyed a street corner.
The corner is a commercial gold area. When I arrived in New York, I was instilled into the concept of "location, location" (location). For the urban business, location first refers to the block environment. If the environment is certain, the corner is the key.
As for urban planning, I am of course an amateur of the laymen, but it is appropriate to talk about the feeling of shopping as a designer.
Shopping is a part of my work. When I go shopping, I find the charm of street corners is unspeakable: from the rest of the world, the most easily remembered shops are located on the corner, such as Tokyo's isdan department store, Paris's Le Bon March, Messi's department store in New York, etc., and they often act as landmarks.
The Suho District of New York is the most bustling business district in New York, and shops in the neighborhoods are often old and new, but the phenomenon of moving in and out often happens.
In the end, you find that the purpose of those shops is to pursue a better position, which is the corner.
Prada and Chanel, including Ralph Lauren, used to be on the streets of Soho on a street, and now they have moved to the corner.
Dean &Deluca, the best grocery store on the island of Manhattan, has been on the busiest street between Princes Street and Broadway, and people coming up from the four sides of the subway can see it immediately.

How can a complex street corner be formed? The theory of American city scholar Jan Jacob is that the streets are short.
Short streets will generate more crossroads and form rich architectural styles, which will lead to complex street corners.
The whole huge block of buildings is obviously uncooperative, making the streets extremely monotonous, boring and even unsafe.
The complexity of the corner means a lot of things, one of which must be the large flow of people, so the shops on the corner are always the target of businessmen. If it is not really bad, the corner shops will always attract more customers and business better than their neighbors.
In fact, in the long run, a beautiful street corner will eventually help improve the property value of that block.

So it is quite a short-sighted act to use a building that thinks it can make more money only by raising the height.
In April this year, I met a woman who came from Britain to work in Fuchun mountain hotel in Fuyang, Zhejiang. She said that she had lived in Brasilia for more than ten years before, and her family is still there.
I haven't been to Brasilia, but I seem to remember in which book I read that this new city is not very attractive. At least I've never heard of a designer who went shopping in Brasilia to find inspiration for design.
I would like to tell her in a euphemistic manner that there is a good street in Brasilia. She shook her head: the street that you imagined is good, and it must be the short and crowded one. There are endless crowds, busy streets and shops on both sides of the road.
Unfortunately, none of these Brasilia.
Brasilia is so huge that we even do it for it.

Le Kub Siennaa Du, who designs it, admits that it is a failure case.
These are the mistakes that new cities and communities often make.
Because land prices have skyrocketed, building heights are hard to avoid.
New York is no exception.
The higher the building is, the greater the interest can be. It is unrealistic to ask developers to sacrifice their profits and beauty.
Although Le Kub Siennaa put forward in 1930s that urban planning should be "analyzed and calculated", it should be done with "imagination and poetic pleasure". It should be formulated under the conditions of being away from the anger of the mayor's office or city hall, away from the cry of the voters and the sadness of the social victims.
But today, this theory is too Utopian.
Urban planners, like all designers, can no longer be independent artists, and are not interfered with by the government and without any utilitarian factors.
Fortunately, however, there is still the so-called "conscience of the industry", as well as the aesthetic pursuit of designers to settle down. Even in the most intense and most expensive place, the case of such cost and utility is often seen.
For example, in the five street of Manhattan, fifty-six street corner, and then a piece of land, "Sichuan PTA" was designed by students and teachers to cut off a corner, the developers lost dozens of sale units, made a legendary "hanging garden".
This corner is now one of the most famous landscapes of the five Avenue. It has been taken by countless tourists to cut off a corner, but it brings more popularity to the five Avenue.
After I built the corner building, the whole landscape was changed, and finally became a street with a long road, tall buildings and no skyline, and finally lost the opportunity to form neighborhood shops.
When I sell the building, I still keep the loudbook and video materials that the developers give to the customers. What they are looking forward to before they start up, or, they want to publicize the potential purchasers, the future is: the walking street is finally like Paris, with the sentiment and tone, the residents can sit in the open-air coffee shop and watch others' life happily.
But now, it's just a huge parking lot.
