Italy 3D Shoe Designer Fresh Baked 3D Edition Shoes
This is the imagination of the former Italy shoemaker for the manufacture of small leather shoes in the future. It is also a forward-looking blueprint for the "Don 't Run-Beta" created by two European designers. Juan Montero and Eugenia Morpurgo graduated from the design school of Design, Academy, Eindhoven, and began to collaborate in the Don t Run-Beta project. So far, they have opened the "Don 't Run-Beta" temporary store in Gent, Belgium, with a business hour for one month, and then another store in Amsterdam's "Droog Gallery".
For Montero and Morpurgo, the project meets two points: more honest consumption habits and desire to control their finished products. In London, where Montero lives, sales of many commercial streets are declining, mainly due to the rise of e-commerce. Montero said: "this is trying to use new technology in a store, with laser cutting machines and 3D printers as the technical prerequisites. We can reduce most of the steps in production." As long as there is printing technology, each shoe should be assembled without glue, and the production standard of a pair of shoes will probably need 35 leather, of which 5 will be unqualified. A few years ago, after Nike's new Flyknit product came out, the whole shoe could only be finished with only one piece of leather. )
"Don 't Run-Beta" has another advantage, which is what Montero calls "controllable waste". "We only need to buy the quantity of leather that we can store," he said. "There will be no surplus on demand and no need for large warehouses. Choose raw materials, cut them, and buy them after use. This is much less than traditional production, and the processing program does not have a huge profit. Just do it on the table. In this way, "Don 't Run-Beta" imitated the commercial spirit of "Everlane" (San Francisco fashion clothing) online special clothing line, which provided the expense list (materials, sewing skills and transportation) to promote the transparent sales of the manufacturing industry. In "Don 't Run-Beta", Montero and Morpurgo price each pair of shoes according to the materials and production time.
As for the creative control, it is actually the customization of personality, which requires sufficient funds from the two founders and customers. The samples of shoes purchased by Montero and Morpurgo were bought from friends of Eindhoven and fashion industry. For consumers, witnessing the production process can also give customers a clue to design their personal products, and learn how to repair them when they are on the road. If possible, Montero and Morpurgo also hope to develop their own materials to make shoes for "Don t Run-Beta".
"Don 't Run-Beta" has a long way to go. Montero said, "we have only reached 70% of our journey." Like other small-scale manufacturing, expectations are always greater than reality. Even a very elegant shopper should not want to waste an hour watching his shoes on Saturday. It's much faster to buy a pair in a shoe store on the street. In response to this problem, Montero said they would use a better and faster machine to open a trial run shop.
