Bain consulted the 2015 China luxury market research, saying that the luxury shopping industry has begun to decline.
The scale has shrunk by more than 1/3 in the previous year, from 55 billion yuan to 75 billion yuan in 2014, down from 34 billion yuan to 50 billion yuan last year.
This is not because Chinese people are spending less because of slower economic growth.
Mainland Chinese are still buying luxury goods.
They are only collecting more cheap goods themselves, while overseas purchasing is facing more stringent customs censorship.
For ordinary buyers, it is now in a difficult period.
But they are very smart, and have figured out how to provide the real Chinese market with what they really want private buyers to buy: more and more shopping products are turning into sanitary napkins, soft sweets and baby waterproof umbilical cord.
Purchasing is no longer as interesting as it used to be: it's much more fun to pick up goods at old Buddha's department store than to buy goods on personal care shelves at discounted pharmacies.
Catherine is a part-time Chinese purchasing agent living in Germany.
She said, "the best days for purchasing are gone."
But she found that domestic demand for baby products and snacks was great. "German cookies, Japanese chocolates and Russian cakes, shoppers like them."
The cheapest item she ever sold was the baby's umbilical cord. Another private buyer said that the cheapest purchase item she had ever sold was "double eyelid sticker".
The global purchasing volume of China has been reduced.
Despite the fact that binocular stickers (such commodities) still have arbitrage opportunities, purchasing agents are more difficult to make in the recent downturn.
Never, however, underestimate the ability of ordinary Chinese to create business opportunities in an unprecedented field.
Today is a napkin, tomorrow is the world.
