Haining Tanning Industry Alliance Standard Promulgated To Help Industry Achieve Soaring

The leather industry is a characteristic traditional industry in Zhejiang Province, especially the leather industry in Haining. The leather industry accounts for about 1/3 of the total industrial economy in Haining. The trade volume of leather products in Haining China accounts for about 1/4 of the world's total. The Haining leather industry cluster has been designated by the provincial government as the 42 block economic pformation and upgrading demonstration area to the modern industrial cluster.

With the promotion of environmental requirements and the promotion of five water management, tanning industry is facing the bottleneck of sustainable development. It is imperative and urgent to use standardized means to reduce pollutants, waste resources and clean production technology in leather industry.

Measures to speed up the popularization and application of the advanced technology and management methods of leather recycling economy and to enhance the construction of standardized talent teams. The Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau has supported the Haining Leather Research Institute's pilot project on the standardization of leather industry's circular economy.

On the one hand, the project will publicize and promote the mature technology and products in the enterprise, take the lead in forming the alliance standard; on the other hand, guide the tannery enterprises to actively declare the local standards, industry standards and national standard projects, so as to establish local standards based on national standards and Industry standards.

Since 2011, the Institute has pformed scientific and technological achievements into alliance standards on the basis of the implementation of science and technology projects. It has taken the lead in formulating the technical specification for chromium recovery in tanning chrome tanning wastewater, the technical specification for the recovery of chromium rich sludge used for the preparation of chrome tanning agents, and the technical specification for the collection and storage of chromium containing slag.

The 6 standards for the control of odor in sewage treatment plant, the technical requirements for collection and utilization of leather waste, and the independent evaluation standard of leather processing senior workers, have been promoted and applied in alliance enterprises, and sales revenue has been greatly improved.

The amount of pollutants discharged from tannery wastewater decreased significantly. The amount of CODcr in wastewater decreased from 0.71 tons per 10000 tons in 2013 to 0.58 tons / 10000. The implementation of the standard promoted the industrial quality, integrity and pformation, enhanced the competitiveness of enterprises, increased the gradient of tannery technicians, improved the quality of leather products, and improved the technology of cleaner production.
