The EU issued regulation No. twenty-sixth of 2016, requiring that the content of nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (NPE) in textile products should not exceed 0.01% (100ppm).

The pitional period of the regulation is 5 years, that is, from February 2021, products that do not meet the requirement of limitation will not be allowed to be sold or imported in the EU market.

Data show that at present, the EU is the second largest market for textile exports in our city.

All kinds of existing products in our city

Garment enterprises more than 300, exports in 2015 amounted to $670 million, of which exports to the EU $160 million, accounting for 23.9%.

The ban will have a serious impact on the export of key products such as garments, indoor textiles, yarns, and weaving.

The analysis of relevant persons in the foreign trade department of the China Merchants bureau shows that the impact of the new regulation on enterprises is mainly manifested in three aspects: first, more than half of the products will be faced with the risk of being eliminated.

Because NPE is the most commonly used detergent and dyeing auxiliaries in textile industry, it accounts for more than 80% of China's market share.

At present, there will be more than 50% of the market.

It will not be able to meet the EU NPE limit requirements, especially in printing and dyeing, leather, chemical fiber and other enterprises.

Although the EU has given a 5 year pition period, from the survey, some European Union customers have asked the textile enterprises to use the new version of the directive to conduct product inspection. The actual implementation time of the directive is greatly advanced, and some products will face the threat of being eliminated ahead of schedule.

The city merchants Bureau reminded the relevant enterprises to closely follow and follow the progress of the new regulations of NPE, understand the specific contents of the ban, take the initiative to formulate detailed coping strategies, make use of the pitional period of regulations, improve the production process, do research and development of NPE alternative products, enhance the level of clean production technology, and improve the quality management system, strengthen the quality control of the raw materials and production process, and ensure the quality of the export products comply with the laws and regulations and contract requirements of the importing countries.
