Against this background, China has formulated the first national mandatory standard for children's clothing and school uniforms, GB 31701-2015, "Safety specifications for infant and child textile products".

In contrast, the new standard is specifically targeted at infants and children's textile products sold in our country, and the object of application is more specific and clearer.

Security is mandatory.

It is understood that the standard for infants and children's textiles design, physical and chemical safety performance and other more detailed provisions, the first time the safety requirements and children's clothing accessories (buttons, zippers, ropes, etc.) included in the mandatory requirements, brand manufacturers and manufacturers put forward new challenges.

The new standard has three distinct characteristics: first, to further standardize the safety technical requirements.

For example, in the aspect of mechanical safety, it is requested that no rope should be allowed in the head and neck of infants and children under 7 years of age. Textile accessories (such as buttons, zippers, etc.) require attachments to have certain tensile strength, and should not have sharp edges and sharp edges. In terms of chemical safety, 6 new plasticizers and 2 kinds of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium are added, and the combustion performance requirements are also increased.

Before the implementation of the new standard, the main applicable standard of China's textile products is the national basic safety technical specification for textile products (GB18401-2010), which is applicable to adult, infant and child textile products.

Two, children's clothing importers or distributors should communicate with foreign production enterprises in good time to ensure the quality of products, so as to avoid being forced to rectify, return or destroy the quality of imported products after the implementation of the new standard, resulting in unnecessary losses.
