In 1900, a Lithuania Jew named Meshe David Osinsky came to England alone and was 19 years old.

He first made a small business of selling clothes, and later became a Montague Burton. He opened a tailor's shop in Chesterfield, the industrial city of southern England.

In 1939, Burton has opened 595 homes in the UK.

These stores also provide clothing and custom service for men.

After the outbreak of the Second World War, Burton's company produced 1/4 of the British Army's uniforms and 1/3 demobilized uniforms.

The company is still on parity.

     Burton

It is now in the men's clothing season, and the story of Burton was finally read at an exhibition at the Jewish Museum in London in June 19th.

The exhibition is called "Moses, Mods and Mr. Fish". Although it is small, it is worth seeing.

The exhibition is designed to show Jewish people.

    Designer

In the last century, we made contributions and innovations to the trend and changes of men's clothing, including Moss Bros and Marks & Spencer.

Most of the exhibits are photos, images and advertising materials, but the objects are relatively small.

"The gender differences in clothing attitudes for a long time explain why there are so many well preserved women's historical figures to wear, but men are relatively few," said Miriam Phelan, assistant curator of the museum.

     Burton

"Women like to buy more clothes, and they will prepare different clothes for different occasions," Phelan said. "But men, especially men in the first half of the twentieth Century, usually have only one or two sets of clothes until they can't wear them anymore.

Many of the clothes on display were personal collections and were not easy to find.

The exhibition begins with a series of black and white photographs and catalogues with a history of over 100 years. It shows the situation of the tailor tailoring shops and family hand-made workshops in the east end of London.

In the nineteenth Century, thousands of Jewish immigrants like Burton poured into Britain from Eastern Europe and Russia, many of whom were tailors.

They quickly discovered that their tailoring skills, which had been discriminated against in their hometown, were able to display their skills here, especially in the clothing industry.

In 1901, 60% of British Jewish men worked in tailoring.

They formed many Jewish companies, formed a huge network of relationships through family relations, and firmly controlled the middle end and low-end clothing market.

The promotion of Jewish clothing industry began to make fashion more popular.

During the first World War to the Second World War, men wore more and more casual clothes, and the difference between them was no longer fully representative of their status as before.

For example, ordinary suits began to appear on almost every occasion, and sportswear is becoming more and more popular.

After the war, the new generation of young consumers were very much at odds with their parents' clothed dogma. They began imitating the dressing styles of celebrities and idols.

A retail brand, Cecil Gee, pioneered the design of a short, lightweight single row button up Italian suit, which successfully injected a bit of Hollywood style into the mainstream clothing market of the British men.

This suit is the prototype of the Mod suit later. Young people in the turmoil of youth and rock singers including Beatles and rolling stones are their supporters.

In this exhibition, there is a suede jacket designed by Gee and worn by John Lennon on 1964 tour.

The most dazzling and dazzling part of the exhibition is the rush of colorful multicolored fashion works, such as a yellow silk Nehru jacket, a turquoise trousers, and a variety of fashion signs that were popular in London in 1960s.

     Burton

A set of knitted sets and synthetic yarn crepe shirts designed by Michael Fish in 1970.

Michael Fish is a pioneer designer who is famous for designing kipper ties. He has many intimate relationships with many of the most famous celebrities. He is the most daring, avant-garde and most aesthetic designer in history.

Michael Fish is good at integrating luxurious custom tailoring techniques, hippie patterns, precious silk and his carefully chosen matching colors, metal jewelry and lex fabrics. Mick Jagger wore a mini skirt at a concert in Hyde Park in 1969.

Traditional clothing retailers have responded very quickly to the dressing revolution. They have set up shop stores for young people in many stores, which is the early "fast fashion".

So far, the response to this exhibition is "very positive," Phelan said. "This gives us a sense of the historical pformation of men's clothing in a completely different way."

The exhibition also highlighted some of the individuals who had made great contributions to fashion in Britain. Phelan said, "the fashion trend we are now seeing on T is actually in the context of greater change."
