H&M Burning The Unsold Clothes With The Core Of Environmental Sustainability?
According to the world clothing and shoe net, recently, a TV program called Operation X was alleged in Denmark.
H&M
Incinerate 12 metric tons of unsold clothing every year and have destroyed 60 tonnes since 2012.
The program tracked the H&M's final shipment in June this year, and the reporter said he saw these clothes shipped to a Danish KARA/NOVEREN waste disposal company.

According to the program, about 30 thousand brand-new children's jeans are still tagged.

Else Skjold, a professor at the college, commented that H&M was doing so because of overproduction.
This accusation has pushed H&M, which has always been "environmental sustainability" as the core of development, onto the cusp of the storm.
However, H&M denied the investigation.
"All the clothes destroyed in the program are products that are stopped," H&M spokesman said in an interview with reporters. "They are all orders of moldy or inconsistent safety and quality standards."
Looking back at H&M's environmental behavior on weekdays, although it is a fast fashion brand with "strong pollution force", H&M has been recycling items of old clothes, and has also increased the utilization ratio of organic cotton and environmental protection materials in the design.
It has also been stated that all the clothes will be replaced with environment-friendly and recyclable materials by 2020.
"Material recycling is our core strategy. H&M has been ensuring that environmental protection materials are used as much as possible," the spokesman said. "Incineration is actually the most destructive method we want to use unless clothes are moldy or contain bad chemicals."
However, this is not the end of the matter. Operation X does not recognize H&M's response and insists that the destruction of clothing is useful and new.
In order to prove the credibility of the investigation, the program will even be burned to the same batch of two pairs of trousers, and the same pants that are being sold in the H&M shop are sent to the laboratory for examination.
The results showed that 4 pairs of trousers were not as harmful chemicals as H&M explained, and no mould appeared.
Later, H&M himself did experiments and published different results on the Internet.
This storm seems to end here, but according to Glossy24, last week, H&M admitted that regularly burning clothes was a mystery.
Unlike H&M, Forever 21 has not been disclosed in terms of environmental protection and sustainability.
This is mainly because the inventory of Forever 21 has always been a mystery. Because of its little public information, the stock allocation method of the brand has not been known to the public.
However, Forever 21 is also facing the challenge of burning tail cargo.
The way to deal with the tail cargo quickly is to resell and donate. Other methods such as cutting, burning and burying are harmful to the environment.
And the most destructive force is incineration.
Large quantities of toxic gases from dyes and other materials will directly pollute the atmosphere during incineration.
In addition to producers, the fast consumption habit that consumers are being trained by fast fashion is also a problem.
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency survey, about 84% of people's old clothes will be thrown away rather than donated.
The United States annually processes 14 million tons of old clothes on average, with an average of 72 Jin per person.

In such a large number of old clothes, perhaps more donation agencies can not accept all.
This embarrassing situation is attributed to the two characteristics of fast fashion.
In addition to the "fast" new rate left by the "obsolete" inventory, there are also reasons for plagiarism.
Fast fashion often misappropriation of big brand design is already known to all. Luxury brands do not want to fight back and defend their rights. Litigation is expensive and time-consuming. Fast fashion has drilled the gap of time and destroyed clothes before being prosecuted.
For example, in 2007, TOPSHOP was successfully brought to court by Chlo AI because of the slow destruction.
In order to balance the environmental scales, some fast fashion brands choose to act in the same way as H&M.
For example, Zara has designed Join Life series to use sustainable materials.
As for the effect, Zara did not disclose much.
In fact, people keep reservations about the environmental behavior of fast fashion brands.
Because consumers are still not able to keep up with the new speed of fashion brands at the speed of new clothes, and there is often a surplus of clothes produced in each batch.
While vigorously promoting environmental protection and recycling, the other side keeps producing a lot of clothes.
