Topshop Temporarily Lost, Tmall Flagship Store Announced Clearance

At 10 o'clock in November 1st, the British fast fashion brand Topshop Tmall flagship store announced on the front page of the store that: because of the adjustment of the international business strategy, the Tmall store will be closed in the near future and the shop will be cleared from now on.

The announcement also notifed consumers who had bought Topshop at Tmall in the form of text messages.

At present, the two channels of Topshop in the Chinese market have entered the clearance stage.

And Tmall store.

In August 4th this year, Topshop issued a statement saying it would terminate the cooperation agreement with the Chinese franchise partner Shang pin network, and will continue to look for new partners in China.

A spokesman for Topshop said that before November 30th, consumers could still buy products from Topshop and their men's wear line Topman through Shang pin and Tmall stores.

But it does not mean that Topshop will launch.

"China is a very important market, and the brand hopes to continue to explore more opportunities for development here."

In 2018, this is Topshop.

In September this year, the first entity store in the mainland of China was opened in Huaihai Middle Road, Shanghai.

It is reported that the new store covers an area of more than 3400 square meters, a total of three storeys, and will be one of the largest shops in the world after the completion of TOPSHOP.

According to TOPSHOP staff, the completion of the physical store will be combined with online retail channels to open the new retail mode.

Previously, Topshop had only wired sales channels in China.

So far, the shop has not been completed yet.

As a partner of Topshop in China, Shang pin is responsible for Topshop and Topman two brand store planning and online store operation in China.

In December 2016, Philip Green, chairman of the Arcadia group of Topshop parent company, reached an agreement with Shang pin net, saying that Shang pin would be responsible for opening 80 independent Topshop shops in the mainland of China.

But this plan has not been realized.

In January of this year,

A wholly owned subsidiary, Shenzhen Herme Commercial Co., Ltd. acquired, but the acquisition does not include Topshop and Topman related businesses, because Shang pin has stripped Topshop.

This has already indicated that the cooperation between Shang pin and Topshop is facing a turning point.

The operation of Topshop has been on the decline. In the 2017 fiscal year, it lost 1090 pounds, and the parent company Arcadia group's sales fell 5.3% to 1 billion 900 million pounds compared with the same period last year, and the profit dropped by 42% to 124 million pounds.

In May 2017, Topshop declared bankruptcy in Australia and withdrew from the local market.

To add insult to injury, recently, Arcadia Group Chairman Philip Green was involved in a sexual assault scandal and was accused of having "illegal sexual behavior and racial discrimination" against employees. Topshop's brand image was also damaged.
