In May 15th, the delegation of the China Textile Federation, headed by Sun Ruizhe, President of the China Textile Industry Federation, arrived in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, from Italy and Romania. It fully felt the enthusiasm of Ukraine in developing the textile industry.

Ukraine occupies more than 30% of the arable land in Europe, and has the reputation of the world granary. But in fact, Ukraine's light industry, including the textile industry, is very weak.

It is understood that during the former Soviet Union, Ukraine had more than 320 textile enterprises, including 3 state-owned textile enterprises complex (Kherson textile complex, Chernobyl textile complex and Donetsk textile complex).

Now, there are only 20 textile enterprises that are being produced, and the raw materials allocated by the unified raw material supply base are mainly cloth and its products.

But the textiles in Ukraine market mainly rely on imports. The main importing countries are China, Pakistan, Korea, Turkey and Russia. The producers of these countries rely on advanced technology and equipment, cheap labor and other favorable conditions, and the products flow into the Ukraine market through grey channels, which has strong price advantage.

Over 90% of grey textile products are pported by sea (Odessa port and IRI chiusk port) channel, because it is difficult to enter regular supply channels, so the vast majority of products are sold through the wholesale and retail markets such as Kharkov, Odessa and Odessa seven.

It is reported that at present, there are less than dozens of large cloth trade and leather goods companies in Ukraine. Clothing production is mostly small companies, generally less than 100 people, and the equipment is obsolete, mainly relying on imports.

At present, China's products are mainly sold in the wholesale and retail markets of Ukraine, with a wide range of designs and various kinds.

Ukraine is located in the eastern part of Europe, connecting the Black Sea and the Asian fast sea, and bordering Poland, Hungary, Czech, Romania, Moldova and other countries.

In recent years, the government of Ukraine has attached importance to the development of the textile industry. Attracting foreign investment is the main means to support the industry.

On May 15th, at the forum of Sino Ukrainian textile industry in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, cooperation between the two sides in investment, production capacity cooperation and trade was discussed.

At the symposium, relevant personnel in Ukraine said that Ukraine has cooperated with Chinese enterprises in many areas, hoping to fully cooperate in the textile industry to make full use of their superior resources and expand Ukraine's textile strength. At present, they are looking for suitable market and fabric suppliers, and establish base for surface accessories.

At the same time, they hope that Chinese textile enterprises will invest in Ukraine and analyze the investment environment.

It is reported that following the sharp decline in 2014~2015, the net inflow of foreign direct investment reached US $3 billion 700 million in the third quarter of 2016~2018, and there has been a systematic recovery in investment activities.

In 2018, trade between China and Ukraine amounted to US $9 billion 800 million, an increase of US $1 billion 100 million over 2017.

At present, Ukraine is undergoing a state pformation. The world bank data show that since 2010, Ukraine has achieved the best results in the original socialist countries in Europe in improving its business environment.

Ukraine's main investment advantages lie in: first, the geographical position is superior. Ukraine is a bridge between Eurasian trade, pportation and logistics, and a powerful production area of global integration.

The capital of Kiev has a strong geographical advantage, and the flight time from all European capitals is less than 3 hours, making it an ideal logistics and pportation hub.

At the same time, the unemployment rate is at the lowest level in history. The Ukraine government also encourages Chinese people to work in China.

Third, infrastructure.

Natural gas and prices in Ukraine are also lower than those in neighboring countries.

With the progress of Ukraine's integration into Europe, Ukraine maintains the speed of merging thousands of EU standards every year.

At the same time, Ukraine and the EU free trade area meet the Chinese government's "one belt and one way" initiative. According to the DCFTA, about 95% of the projects are set to zero, and the rest of the tariff has also been reduced.
