According to reports, from 2011 to 2024, Shawan City has invested 1.24 billion yuan in the construction of 1.183 million mu of high standard farmland. By the end of 2023, the city's construction of high standard farmland involves 1.1 million mu of land in 67 villages in 11 townships, accounting for 56% of the permanent basic farmland, and has initially formed a standard farmland with "fields forming a square, roads connecting, canals connecting, and forests forming a network".

Huang Jizhen, secretary of the Party branch of Shawan Rural Cooperative Economic Development Center, said: "Compared with the traditional flood irrigation, after the implementation of high standard farmland, the average water saving per mu is more than 150 cubic meters, the effective utilization rate of water resources is more than 90%, the utilization rate of fertilizers is 80%, and the average water and fertilizer saving per mu is more than 100 yuan. The grain output increased by about 50kg and the cotton yield per unit area increased by about 40kg, effectively supporting the improvement of the grain and cotton production capacity of Shawan City. "

In terms of mechanization of the whole process of cotton production, the comprehensive mechanization rate of cotton cultivation and income in Shawan City has reached 98.76%, playing an important role in saving agricultural costs and increasing farmers' income.

Li Donghai, a promotion researcher at Shawan Agricultural Machinery Technology Promotion Station, said: "As for the power machinery, there are 2175 tractors with more than 100 horsepower. As for the seeding machinery, the machine picking mode, the precision film laying and pipe laying seeder, is adopted for all cotton in Shawan. In terms of cotton plant protection machinery, Shawan agricultural UAVs have been widely used in recent years."
