Industrial Cluster: Most Of The Cotton Producing Areas In China Are In The Period Of Boll Cracking And Boll Opening

Since sowing, the average temperature of cotton growing areas in Xinjiang, North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Jianghan, Jiangnan and Northwest China has been 1.9 ℃, 2.0 ℃, 2.2 ℃, 1.7 ℃, 1.7 ℃, 1.7 ℃, 1.2 ℃ and 1.7 ℃ higher than that in the same period of the year. The precipitation in Xinjiang, North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Jianghan, Jiangnan, and the central and eastern parts of northwest China were 101.9 mm, 408.6 mm, 647.1 mm, 677.4 mm, 562.2 mm, 882.7 mm, and 420.1 mm, respectively. The precipitation in Xinjiang, North China, Huanghuai, and Jiangnan was 5.3%, 7.8%, 22.7%, and 12.3% more than that in the same period of the previous year. The precipitation in the central and eastern parts of Jianghuai, Jianghan, and northwest China was slightly less than that in the previous year.

Sunlight hours in Xinjiang, North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Jianghan, Jiangnan, and the central and eastern parts of Northwest China are 1310.5 hours, 1083.9 hours, 1015.8 hours, 849.6 hours, 771.0 hours, 735.1 hours, and 949.5 hours respectively. Sunlight hours in Xinjiang, Jianghan, and Jiangnan are 6.6%, 3.2%, and 3.4% less than those in normal years respectively, while sunshine hours in North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, and the central and eastern parts of Northwest China are 3.4%, 5.7% 2.9%、4.5%。

Since sowing, the average climate suitability of cotton nationwide has been a relatively suitable level. The average climate suitability in August is 0.72, 0.10 and 0.09 lower than that in the same period of the previous year and in recent five years, respectively. The first half of the year is a more suitable level, and the last ten days is a less suitable level.

According to the results of the meteorological prediction model for crop yield, it is estimated that the average unit yield of Xinjiang and Hebei in 2024 will increase by more than 1.5% compared with the previous year (an increase year), and the average unit yield of cotton in other major provinces will increase or decrease by less than 1.5% (a normal year).
