Lin Lin, President of China Printing and Dyeing Industry Association, was interviewed in this issue.

In 2024, a year full of challenges and opportunities, facing the changing external environment, the printing and dyeing industry still shows tenacity and vitality, the pace of transformation and upgrading is steady, leading enterprises set a benchmark, and the whole industry unswervingly pursues digital, high-quality, green and sustainable development. In this process, the China Printing and Dyeing Industry Association is also guiding, accompanying and witnessing the development and innovation of the industry. At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, Textile and Clothing Weekly specially invited Lin Lin, president of the China Printing and Dyeing Industry Association, to review 2024 and look forward to 2025. Let's follow her eyes and look forward to the new year of forging ahead.
The pressure still exists, and the situation is stabilizing and improving
TAweekly: In the face of the complicated domestic and international situation, what is the development trend of China's printing and dyeing industry since 2024? What are the main characteristics and trends?
Lin Lin: Since 2024, the lack of momentum for world economic growth, the continuation of geopolitical conflicts, and the deepening of domestic structural adjustment have brought new challenges, but the continued release of macro policy effects and the accelerated development of new quality productivity have formed new support for the smooth operation of China's national economy. Against this background, China's printing and dyeing industry continues to recover its development trend. From January to November 2024, the output of printing and dyeing fabrics of enterprises above designated size in the printing and dyeing industry will increase by 3.59% year on year; The export scale of major printing and dyeing products continued to expand, with the export volume increasing by 5.57% year on year and the export amount increasing by 2.59% year on year; The main economic indicators showed a recovery trend. The operating revenue of printing and dyeing enterprises above designated size increased by 7.98% year on year, and the total profit increased by 33.89% year on year. The profitability of the industry improved significantly. At the same time, it should also be noted that the current domestic and international market demand is still insufficient, the export pressure of the printing and dyeing industry appears, the growth rate of major economic indicators tends to slow down, the industry's deficit is still on the high side, the profit differentiation of different enterprises is obvious, and the foundation for the industry's economic recovery needs to be further consolidated.
The Central Economic Work Conference proposed that China's economy has a stable foundation, many advantages, strong resilience and great potential, and the supporting conditions and basic trend for long-term improvement have not changed. Although geopolitics, trade frictions and other factors will have a long-term impact on China's economic development, the advantages of China's printing and dyeing industry with complete industrial system, complete supporting facilities and high efficiency of coordination exist for a long time, forming favorable conditions for the industry to continue to improve. From the perspective of the export market, with the continuous deepening of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and the effective expansion of the diversified international market pattern, the demand for printing and dyeing products in the international market is expected to maintain growth, and the industry's foreign trade development toughness is enhanced. From the perspective of domestic market, China's macro policies will continue to provide strong support for economic recovery, and the potential of terminal consumption will be further released. The recovery of domestic demand will drive the overall improvement of the profitability of the printing and dyeing industry, and the pressure on enterprises to operate will be eased. It is expected that the economic development of printing and dyeing industry will continue to pick up in 2025.
TAweekly: With the continuous increase of national environmental protection efforts and the acceleration of industrial transfer in the central and western regions, can you introduce the changes and adjustments in the current transfer of printing and dyeing industry and domestic layout? What are the trends in the future?
Lin Lin: High regional concentration is the main feature of China's printing and dyeing industry. The printing and dyeing capacity is mainly concentrated in the five eastern coastal provinces, which account for more than 90% of the output. In recent years, the printing and dyeing industry has shifted to the central and western regions, such as Xinjiang, Guangxi, Guizhou, Henan, Anhui and other provinces, which are driven by policies to develop the printing and dyeing industry. From 2018 to 2024, the proportion of printing and dyeing output in the five eastern coastal provinces will decrease from 95% to 91%. From January to October 2024, the output of printed and dyed fabrics in Jiangxi, Hunan, Xinjiang and other regions will increase by more than 20% year on year. According to the characteristics of the industry, it is suggested to adhere to the industrial layout principle of giving priority to the development of the eastern coastal areas and moderately developing the central and western regions according to the environmental carrying capacity.
Technological progress has always driven the industry forward
TAweekly: The new quality development of printing and dyeing industry is inseparable from technological progress and innovation.
