Footwear Exports May Increase In The Future

Reporters learned yesterday from the Whampoa customs office in Changan that 1 to October this year, the number of toy export enterprises in Dongguan was 538, a decrease of 98 compared with the same period last year, and toy exports totaled 1 billion 260 million US dollars, down 2.5% from the same period last year.

Although the total export volume has decreased, the general trade export has been increasing.

In this regard, the industry suggested that the government and banks should strengthen the financing support for small and medium-sized processing enterprises.

But with the global consumer market weakening, Dongguan's toy manufacturing industry is facing a "life and death" exam.

According to statistics from the statistics department, there are 2191 toy export enterprises in 1~9 this year, a decrease of 1391 compared with the same period last year, only 60% last year. The total number of toy exporters in Dongguan has also declined significantly.

Up to October, there were only 538 toy enterprises with export performance, compared with 98 in the same period last year, accounting for about 7% of the province's total, most of which were small and medium-sized enterprises.

Among them, there are 88 enterprises with less than $100 thousand in export volume, 70 less than the same period last year, and the concentration of the industry has decreased.

Although the total export volume has decreased, the general trade export has been increasing.

In the month of 1~10 this year, the city exported toys 1 billion 250 million dollars in the form of processing trade, down 3%, accounting for 95.5%, while exported toys 18 million 210 thousand dollars in general trade mode, a significant increase of 39.3%.

In addition, Dongguan exported toys to the United States 510 million dollars, down 13.4%, exports to the European Union 390 million dollars, up 1.3%, the total accounted for 70.8% of total exports.

Only the Hongkong market is still strong, and Dongguan's exports to Hong Kong are US $98 million 670 thousand, a big increase of 36.2%.

The five factories in Dongguan, the largest toy OEM in the country and three of the world's top toy brands, announced the closure of the two factories, which set the alarm for the development of the toy industry.

The responsible person believes that all functional departments and banks should have an in-depth understanding of the practical difficulties faced by small and medium-sized toy enterprises, and increase the loan proportion and amount to the enterprises in a timely manner. For those close to bankruptcy, it is advisable to control relevant personnel and assets in a timely manner so as to prevent the emergence of second "combined Juns".

At the same time, the R & D center should be set up by the government and enterprises. "Improve the innovation ability of enterprises, optimize the structure of export products, help enterprises adapt to the changes of foreign consumption market, encourage enterprises to pform from OEM to ODM, and establish independent brands".

And guide enterprises to increase domestic market opening strength, Rio Tinto Latin America, Eastern Europe and other emerging markets, so as to spend the "cold winter" with enterprises.

Both the export market and the export varieties have both declined, and the overall foreign trade situation is not optimistic.

Before October, the city exported 310 million pairs, 48 million 850 thousand pairs and 33 million 260 thousand pairs to the United States, the European Union and Japan respectively, down 11.3%, 1.2% and 9.2% respectively.

Overall, except for a small increase of 2.3% in July, other months showed a downward trend, while footwear exports in October decreased by 14.3%, the largest decline in the year.

Mr. Li, a shoe factory owner of Houjie, said that the EU's anti-dumping measures to China's leather shoes for two years should expire in October this year. However, the European Commission recently announced that the export of leather shoes to China from Vietnam and China will be investigated. The anti-dumping duty will be temporarily maintained before the investigation is completed, which means that anti-dumping measures will be extended for 12 to 15 months in disguise.

Changan customs officials suggested that Dongguan shoe enterprises should increase scientific research investment in quality and design, increase the number of high-grade and high value-added footwear exports, and actively implement the brand internationalization strategy, or overseas factories or OEM to deal with the current shoe industry "cold winter".
