Nike Foundry Problem: Over The Past 3 Years, Overtime Has Not Been Reduced.
Mark Parker said at the time that he wanted to eliminate excessive overtime in Nike's foundry enterprises in fiscal year 2011. However, the report released shows that in the past 2007~2009 fiscal year, Nike's OEM enterprises had been working overtime.
According to Nike's standard, weekly working hours are over 60 hours. The report revealed that in fiscal year 2007, Nike OEM had 110 working hours in 60~72 hours, and 27 in the 72 hour working week. According to this calculation, the number of Nike OEM enterprises over 2007 in the fiscal year accounted for over 20% of all OEM enterprises, and the proportion increased to 22% in the 2008 fiscal year, and further increased to 24% in the 2009 fiscal year.
It is noteworthy that during the same period, the total number of foundry enterprises of Nike has decreased from 690 to 618, and the number of workers employed by OEM enterprises has also decreased from 834 thousand and 761 in fiscal 2008 to 823 thousand and 26 in fiscal year 2009.
At the same time, more and more Southeast Asian enterprises are becoming foundries of Nike. Only Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia have 138 Nike foundry enterprises, more than China with 136 foundries.
Who is the ultimate victim?

Wan Shi Da factory has seriously violated the relevant laws and regulations. From March to June last year, the factory workers worked on average 280 hours per month, and forced the workers to agree to work overtime in the disguised form of internal management rules such as fines.
The NGO also found that the main customers of Shenghua group include apple, Motorola, NOKIA, Samsung, Lenovo, HUAWEI and so on.
In September last year, the organization investigated Disney's OEM enterprises in Guangdong, Dongguan Tianyu toy products Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Weicheng Hardware Plastic Toys Co., Ltd. found that two factory workers generally worked overtime for more than 3 hours per day, but the basic salary was 900 yuan / month. The workers' monthly income was 1100~1300 yuan, so the workers were willing to work overtime to increase their income, but there were frequent accidents in the absence of workers' safety facilities.
According to Chen Huiling, at present, the labor situation of Shenghua group in Dongguan Wan Shi Da factory has improved significantly. For example, all workers who have passed the probation period have social security, and the performance award has been restored, and the fine has also been abolished. Walt Disney (Shanghai) Limited also said it would investigate and improve the frequent occurrence of industrial accidents.
