Shanghai University of Engineering Science garment Institute is a college that specialties in costume design and engineering, and interdisciplinary and coordinated development of management, art design and other disciplines.
The Institute has four departments (clothing design department, clothing art department, textile industry and trade department and Clothing Engineering Department) and a clothing center laboratory, teaching staff 70 people. Closely related to the advanced manufacturing industry and modern service industry developed by Shanghai, the college has six undergraduate professional or professional directions, such as fashion design and engineering, art design (clothing and apparel), textile engineering, marketing (clothing marketing), clothing design and Engineering (clothing CAD/CAM), art design (fashion show and Planning), etc., with disciplines involving arts, engineering and art, and more than 1000 students in the college.
At present, there are 55 professional teachers, including 3 professors, 12 associate professors, 27 lecturers, 4 "double qualified teachers", and several engineers, who have formed a team of teachers with different combinations of old and middle schools, different specialties and reasonable professional structure.
The Institute of clothing design and engineering is a major discipline in Shanghai. Since 2007, it has enrolled postgraduates. French Rick and American Gerber's clothing CAD software, including Germany's imported 3D human body scanners and other large modern clothing equipment, has built a larger clothing CAD teaching base and a modern, full-featured fashion show hall; has advanced fabric design software (pengma system); has introduced the international first-class Swedish ETON intelligent clothing hanging production management system; equipped with advanced clothing cutting room, computer room, batik room, inkjet room, photography room, makeup room, fabric style testing room, fabric performance testing room, knitted and woven dozens of different functions of the laboratory, to meet the six undergraduate college students and clothing design and engineering graduate student's teaching and scientific research needs. The college has the world's advanced technology.
After more than 20 years of development, the college has formed a complete set of scientific and mature teaching mode, with a reasonable teaching management system and teaching quality assurance system, accumulated rich experience in related fields, and formed a distinctive school running feature focusing on training students' basic quality, practical ability, production, study, research and market integration, art and science, and outstanding cooperative education. Over the years, more than 5000 students with high quality, solid foundation, practical ability and adaptability have been trained for textile and clothing trade, fashion design and management, fashion media training in Shanghai and surrounding areas. Students have won various awards at home and abroad in fashion design and fashion show awards, and graduates are widely praised by the society. According to the data released by the Organizing Committee of the 12 China Cup International dress competition, which was held in April 2006, the winners of the 38 finals and 748 prizes in the past 11 competitions of the Chinese cup were awarded 7 gold medals, 12 silver awards, 34 bronze Awards (including excellent prizes, etc.), and 7% of the total prize, ranking the top of the list in the April 2006.
In recent years, the Institute has been actively involved in various large-scale fashion show, performance and creative activities in the society. It has undertaken many domestic design competitions and fashion shows. It has established a solid school enterprise strategic alliance and production and research and employment base with many groups, companies and industrial clusters in Shanghai and surrounding areas. It has the ability to undertake various scientific research projects, and has accumulated many teaching and research achievements. It also actively utilizes the advantages of discipline construction to actively serve the economy of Shanghai and Yangtze River Delta region, with remarkable results.
At present, the Institute of clothing is striving to build a new highland of clothing design - performance marketing higher education, to create the cradle for training outstanding textile and garment engineers, designers and management marketers.
