    In October 28, 2010, the 2010 Ordifen Cup China underwear design competition finals, jointly organized by the China Fashion Designers Association and Ordifen International Group, came to a close in Beijing.

    Reporter: we know that Ordifen has been holding the design competition for the purpose of "selecting excellent young designers, developing traditional Chinese underwear culture and enhancing the local concept of underwear design".

    Will every year's outstanding designers be absorbed by Ordifen? Will this year's winning works be applied to Ordifen's new product development?


    Wang Wenzong: every player will be admitted into Ordifen, and one or two series of design works will be used in Ordifen's products. This year we have further optimized the platform for designing talents, that is, we will elect representative works to publish the results next year. I believe this is a good opportunity for the contestants to display the design concept commercialization, and also an incentive.


    Reporter: since the beginning of this year, the name of the competition has been officially changed from the past "Chinese elements innovation design competition" to "China underwear design competition". What substantive changes will it bring?


    Wang Wenzong: the design competition of the first five years laid the foundation for Chinese elements with the foundation of the dynasty.

    The change of the name of this year's competition means a broader, inclusive and fashion oriented design direction. The creative space of the contestants can be greater. The logo of the competition has also been changed from the "phoenix" pattern to the capital letter C, namely "CHINA" and "CONFIDENT", which symbolizes the confidence of Chinese underwear designers and the confidence of Chinese design and research.

    In the past, our underwear industry in China was less invested in the field of design, and weaker. In the past few years, with the accumulation of foundation, we have confidence first, and then we will sort out it rationally and gradually step towards internationalization. For example, we plan to increase the proportion of international competitors to 10% annually, and finally let the international and domestic competitors half and half, so that design personnel can integrate with the international community and communicate with each other so as to better spread the Chinese elements.

    I always believe that Chinese people and Chinese people are not enough to compete internationally.

    This is a direction we should strive for.


    Another substantial change is that this year's competition added the concept of environmental protection.

    This means that in the next five years, environmental protection and fashion become the two major elements.

    I think environmental protection is the key issue of future underwear enterprise development, which is embodied in material, technology, process and so on.

    This is a social responsibility for designers.

    We also hope that by the platform of China International Fashion Week, more enterprises and brands will attach importance to environmental protection.


    Reporter: what is the basis for this change of thinking? And the development of Ordifen brand itself.

    Wang Wenzong: in the first five years, with Chinese elements as the main axis, we mainly saw that we all didn't attach enough importance to Chinese elements. We always felt the old tradition of Chinese elements. But Ordifen held the design competition to show you the innovative application of Chinese elements. Now, we need to show you the organic combination of Chinese elements and international fashion trends. This is a very important turning point and an inevitable process from localization to internationalization.

    In the future, the design style of Ordifen will also be internationalized. But the market is still dominated by the domestic market, and the domestic market is big enough, and we still have a lot of work to do. Some ideas need to be conveyed.


    Reporter: the Ordifen underwear design competition has been held for the six time. How do you view the changes in China's underwear design industry in the past six years?


    Wang Wenzong: in the past, Chinese underwear enterprises mainly did OEM business in the international market, and a few ODM. However, these two years were affected by the international economic changes and exported to other countries. They began to focus on brand and channel construction and consumers.

    This is a welcome phenomenon and the direction of industry.

    At the same time, this also makes underwear design and development become more important.

    The purpose of our design competition is to emphasize the importance of underwear innovation, creativity, research and development. If we focus on cost, price and style copying, it will bring disaster to the industry.

    We look forward to the healthy and benign development of the industry, expecting more enterprises to attach importance to brand, design and channel construction, and attach importance to consumers.


    Reporter: this year's contestants are mostly from design institutes. We know that underwear is not only about design concepts, but also a very important experience in wearing. So, will Ordifen consider attracting more experienced designers to participate in the competition? {page_break}

    Reporter: looking at the next five to ten years, what changes do you think Chinese underwear design will have?

    Wang Wenzong: in general, it will become more internationalized. This is reflected in the application of design talents to elements, and the importance of Chinese brands will be more obvious both at home and abroad, and the application of Chinese elements will be more extensive.

    With the help of the design competition, Ordifen also hopes that more brands and enterprises will attach importance to the fashionable application of Chinese elements and form the popular elements of the Chinese nation instead of following the European style blindly.


    Reporter: in conjunction with the last topic, what are the key directions of Ordifen's product design in the future?


    Wang Wenzong: in the past, we may pay more attention to the beauty of the figure, but now it is different. People pay more and more attention to the comfort of underwear.

    In the future, Ordifen's underwear will emphasize the importance of comfort and fashion and combine the two.

    Wang Wenzong: take Chinese elements as the main axis, and combine them with fashion, creativity and international integration.
