Clothing Retail Sales Rose 23.9% In Hongkong In October 2010

December 4th, Hong Kong The latest figures on retail sales were released by the census and statistics department in November 30th.

　　
The estimated value of total retail sales in October 2010 was 27 billion 800 million (HK $, the same below), an increase of 21.6% over the same month in 2009. The total retail sales in October 2010 increased by 19.6% compared with the same month last year. The price deflator used is selected from the relevant items in the consumer price index.

　　
The revised value of total retail sales in September 2010 was estimated at $25 billion 100 million, an increase of 17.2% over September 2009, while the total sales volume increased by 15.8%.

　　
Compared with the same period in 2009, the total sales value of retail sales increased by 18.3% in the first ten months of 2010, while the total sales volume increased by 15.5%.

　　
According to the main categories of stores, the number of sales of miscellaneous consumer durables increased by 88.5% in October 2010 compared with October 2009. Followed by electrical appliances and photographic equipment (retail sales increased by 39%). Footwear, related products and other clothing accessories (up 33.8% ), jewellery, watches and clocks and precious gifts (up 30.2%), auto and auto parts (up 24.3%). Clothing (up 23.9% ), furniture and fixtures (up 19.4%), miscellaneous consumer goods (up 14.7%), department store products (up 13.6%), supermarket goods (up 4.8%), and food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco (up 1.9%).

　　
Compared with the previous three months, the total retail sales volume of seasonally adjusted retail sales increased by 7.3% in the three months ending October 2010.
