Leather Shoes Anti Tilt Shoe Making Enterprises

Reporters yesterday from the Ministry of commerce website and China Leather Association, informed that the European Commission issued a notice recently announced that from March 31, 2011 onwards, the official suspension of Vietnam and China produced leather shoes anti-dumping duties.

Anti dumping will end at the end of this month.

It is understood that, in order to protect the interests of some southern European shoe enterprises, the EU has formally imposed anti-dumping duties on leather shoes imported from China since October 2006, with the highest tax rate of 16.5%.

In October 23rd of the same year, five Chinese shoe companies such as AOKANG appealed to the European Court of first instance.

In October 2008, when the anti-dumping measure was due to expire, the European Commission decided to review the anti-dumping case of Chinese leather shoes in order to decide whether to extend anti-dumping measures.

During the review period, the original anti-dumping measures are still applicable.

In December 2009, the EU decided to reconsider the anti-dumping measures on Chinese leather shoes for another 15 months. The plan should expire at the end of this month.

In April 2010, the EU's junior court dismissed five Chinese shoe companies' claims.

The expert group was asked to set up an expert group on anti-dumping measures against China's leather shoes by the European Union, and formally activated the WTO dispute settlement expert group's hearing procedure.

In May, when other shoe companies announced their abandonment of appeal, AOKANG decided to appeal to the European Union High Court.

Wei Yafei, director of the association shoe office, said the cancellation of anti-dumping duties on leather shoes provided conditions for Chinese enterprises to further expand the EU market, but should not be blindly optimistic.

Although the anti-dumping measures have been terminated, Chinese shoe enterprises must seriously study the EU's laws and regulations on leather shoes export, standardize their own business practices, abide by industry rules, and create a favorable environment for the export of Chinese shoe enterprises.

According to the briefing, at present, the China Ceramic Industry Association is making joint efforts with the Minmetals association to further negotiate with the European Chamber of Commerce and related organizations, hoping to minimize the impact of the anti-dumping on Chinese tiles.

Relevant experts also said that the EU anti-dumping measures are undoubtedly a trade protectionist approach, and Chinese enterprises should actively respond to the Commission's investigation in order to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.
