Our World Expo Design Team Tutor Goes To Sichuan To Teach And Spread Love And Innovation Education.

Cui Yan and Zhu Yumei, two female lecturers in the fashion design department of our hospital, returned from the teaching of Dujiangyan in Sichuan. They brought innovative education ideas and sincere love, and brought back a deep friendship with people in Sichuan. It is worth mentioning that they are professional instructors who instruct the Raffles students in Donghua to design a series of uniforms for the Expo 2010 "Shanghai Pavilion". They are specially designed to bring creative design courses, advanced bilingual classes and environmental protection concepts of Shanghai World Expo to children in Sichuan disaster area.

"We finally embarked on a trip to Dujiangyan to support education, and with the help of Shanghai Golf Charity Union in Shanghai, this teaching plan has finally been completed for nearly a year." Cui Yan told reporters, "in the early September 1st, we arrived in Dujiangyan early in the morning for a long time. The new and modern school started to make everyone feel at a loss. Later, we learned that the primary school was the worst hit primary school in the 5.12 earthquake. The disaster took nearly 300 small lives, which makes us cherish the beauty of our eyes."

Miss Zhu Yumei was moved by the simple and enthusiastic children. "When the children saw us coming, they rushed to help us with our luggage and teaching supplies. They are curious about the umbrellas and white T-shirts we bring. Students in every class want to listen to our lessons. We try to match the full curriculum according to the school arrangement. Sometimes we are too busy to have lunch. But we are very pleased that we can teach more children and teach more.

Cui Yan and Zhu Yumei brought special courses to the children in the disaster area: bilingual courses of "environmental umbrella production" and "love t-shirt design", which integrated many knowledge and contents of English, art, production, environmental protection, and so on. Two teachers in a classroom had various knowledge, so that teachers in the field also had an eye opener.

"Let's first say it in English. When they do not understand it, repeat it in Chinese again. Slowly, they also express their desired colors and patterns in a complete sentence with our encouragement. Many students surprise us. They are really full of creativity and potential. " Miss Zhu Yumei said that in order to match the students' love T-shirt, she and Cui Yan teacher cut more than 300 pieces of cloth and Haibao cloth overnight, but it was very gratifying to see the children finally put on their beautiful T-shirt.
　　
The children, under the guidance of these two Shanghai teachers, began to learn to communicate with their teachers in English, and boldly use their creativity to create colorful works.


"Teacher, will you teach us a semester here?" A student in class 3, grade four, could not help asking after class. When teachers were told that they could only teach for a week, they could not help but be disappointed.

"Children are full of yearning for Shanghai. They are curious about the Expo. They rush to design Haibao when designing T-shirts. We also talk with them about World Expo in Shanghai, Shanghai's development, and encourage them to study hard, and then go outside to see the world. Cui Yan and Zhu Yumei's words are full of yearning and love when they mention the children of Dujiangyan Xinxin primary school.

They said that although the support time is not long, I believe that this sincere effort will put a hope and dream into the hearts of the children in the disaster area. Their sincere smiles and sincere feelings have given them the best return. They plan to join the Shanghai Golf loving alliance with more teachers willing to join teachers in Donghua Raffles. This is a new start.
