Bangladesh'S Clothing Exports To India Have Increased Significantly.

The October orders inflow amounted to a quarter of the total volume of clothing exported to India by US $360 million in the 12 months of last fiscal year (2010-11).
The delegation of the India Bangladesh chamber of Commerce and industry (IBCCI) is consulting with the India textile and garment industry organization. They say that the inflow of orders in October is estimated to be based on the input of local industry by the Bangladesh government.
In early September, India announced the duty-free entry of 46 categories of clothing products in Bangladesh, including shorts, shirts, T-Shirts, skirts, children's wear, cotton pajamas, jeans, swimsuits and sports coats.
The clothing department of Bangladesh, despite its lack of raw material base, is more cost competitive than the clothing industry in India. At present, it has an advantage over the Chinese garment industry in professional clothing items such as woven garments and knitwear.
The contract in Bangladesh India stipulates that the origin of export clothing will become a matter for the South Asian Free Trade Area specification to be determined.
