The types of shoes exported from Zhanjiang are mainly divided into plastic slippers and leather shoes. Leather shoes are mainly exported to European and American markets, while plastic slippers are mostly exported to African countries. Since the reform and opening up, the production of local plastic shoes has developed rapidly, especially Wuchuan, Zhanjiang, which has become a well-known "Nanguo shoe city" and one of the three major bases for the production of plastic shoes in China.
