Exclusive Interview With Fashion Education Master IFA Paris

    2012/9/23 18:24:00 20

    FashionIFA ParisTeaching Director

She is a well-known tutor of the Saint Martin Institute at John Galliano, former design director of Dior. She taught for 10 years in Saint Martin, 6 years in London Fashion Institute, and she held many times in New York, Sweden and Britain.

    Latest fashion

    Art exhibition.

She is Susan Jenkyn Jones, director of teaching quality at IFA Paris, IFA Fashion Institute.

    Act as

    IFA Paris

Susan, director of the teaching quality of the Sino French Fashion Institute, will supervise and evaluate the quality of all core projects of IFA Paris Fashion Institute.

Here, she shared with us her experience and experience in the fashion education industry for many years.

Can IFA Paris: introduce you briefly?

Susan: my background is actually a little different.

My parents are hyperthermia doctors. They often travel in Eurasia and the Middle East.

I have a big family. Besides family, there are many pets, such as insects, birds, monkeys and fish.

And I grew up in such a colorful family.

Therefore, I didn't speak English well at that time.

When I was ten years old, I was sent back to England.

So, to a certain extent, I sympathize with those who have learned to separate languages.

Of course, this is also the beginning of my favorite fashion.

My mother often makes beautiful clothes in Singapore or Hongkong, and I also want to wear beautiful clothes.

But I found that I was tied up for seven years by the ugly and uncomfortable school uniform.

Therefore, fashion for me is the process of regaining colorful colors and happiness.

I always like drawing and designing sketches, so I decided to study in art college.

IFA Paris: what do you have?

    Fashion industry

    What about the background?

Susan: my first degree was about fabric design.

I like making and compiling printing and all kinds of patterns very much.

I always try to blend the fabric, color and proportion into fashion design.

I like to control the various characteristics of fabric, and then mature and naturally use it in the design.

After completing the master's degree of the Royal College of design, I also went to work in Quorum, an excellent design team led by Ossie Clarke, Celia Birtwell and Betty Jackson.

Three years later, I began to create my own fashion brand.

Why did IFA Paris: decide to engage in fashion education?

After ten years of successful design experience and Susan:'s complete retail experience, I also collaborate with two well-known brands in London.

After that, I want to pursue a completely different and challenging job.

At the same time, I am ready to share with my students all kinds of experience and skills as well as important knowledge.

In the past fashion education industry, courses did not teach students about marketing and products.

But today, this is a more successful rule than design skills.

In recent years, I am also very interested in computer aided design technology, Internet fashion and consumer behavior in the retail environment.

Successful teaching experience and continuous learning have enabled me to update the new design skills after mastering the traditional art and design techniques.

This is very interesting to me.

IFA Paris: you have been teaching at the central Saint Martin Fashion Institute and the London Fashion Institute for many years. What made you join the Sino French Fashion Institute?

Susan: for me, this is not a simple decision.

But I really need one that can work on the basis of Asia.

The reason why I quit working in London's most famous fashion colleges is because I have the intuition that when the most beautiful fabrics and ingenious products and technologies are constantly developing and innovating in China, it will not be long before the demand for fashion and interest in fashion design will increase. I hope to learn more about modern oriental views and experience the vibrant city pulse.

The importance of fashion concept, vision and technology in the Fashion Institute of Chinese and French fashion has led me to see the future trend of fashion education.

I believe this is the right choice.

IFA Paris: what do you think is the difference between Shanghai as a fashion center and other cities?

    Susan: Shanghai is very modern.

This city has all the factors of all the prosperous cities.

Whether it is uplifting historical culture or architectural design, it is a modern melting pot.

Shanghai is a new fashion capital.

In the retail sector of Shanghai, there are not only many top luxury brands developing in full swing, but also some local designer brands and cutting-edge designers have the opportunity to open their own markets.

In Europe, such a phenomenon is almost absent.

IFA Paris:, since you entered the fashion industry, what changes have you felt in this industry?

Susan: fashion's love for fashion and fabric is always eternal.

But in the face of more diversified markets and different cultural preferences, this difference and breadth is a good thing.

I never liked some old fashioned fashion ideas that some fashion editors or designers used to admire.

The pformation of manufacturing industry inevitably shifts the focus of fashion to the East and other areas, which is a great opportunity for new inspiration.

IFA Paris: has its own brand of women's clothing at the same time, you also published fashion design related books, your status in the fashion industry is beyond doubt.

Do you have any suggestions for students who want to enter this fast changing fashion world?

Susan:, for designers who want to get fame, this may seem like a frightening huge market.

But I believe fashion only pays for the novice.

Now they need more knowledge, including fluency in language, computer graphics, and the power of the media to discriminate between global markets and businesses.

All this takes time to accumulate slowly.

In other words, complete fashion education is very necessary.
