Young Design Brands And Design Events In China
"China Design Now" will continue until July 14th, and its significance and influence have been more distinct since the two months.
This is the first exhibition held in the UK about the latest achievements of contemporary Chinese design.
The exhibition takes the form of a journey, exploring three different rapid development cities - Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen - with different starting points.
In an exhibition, about 100 designers exhibited their works on architecture, fashion, drawing design, film, photography, products, design, youth culture and digital media.
In the era of "Made in China", people's impression of it is mostly the low labor force and the high quantity and low quality production.
When the Chinese design of record covers, skateboards, popular toys, mobile phones, T-shirts and training equipment, as well as photography, furniture and fashion inspired by the revival of Shanghai in 1930s, appeared at the "China Design Now" now being held at the Abbott Museum in Vitoria, England. People realized that "Design by China" has long been surging on this land and has rushed into everyone's sight with a strong momentum.
Young, creative and personable designers, as representatives of native Chinese creative people, have sent the world a new voice of Chinese cultural and creative design in the new era with works full of Chinese characteristics.
In these voices, we have heard longing and hope for the design and creation of local young designers and the expectation of their works.
On the other hand, the problems faced by China's local design are also following: compared with other industries, this field is more contradictory. It is in between art and business, and wants to be both complete and difficult. Chinese designers should return to the most essential role of designers, not to be purely commercial accessories.
But the imperfections of the industrial chain have led many designers to create their own brands like meteors, and most of them will not only have their own brands, but even their own designs will not necessarily have the chance to appear in the market.
However, many successful examples of local design brands are also optimistic to tell us that in the more than 20 years of rapid development in China, design has moved from theory to practice. People have begun to rationally analyze the various sense of fragmentation caused by the rapid development, and gradually find a way to make the best of both worlds, and strive to occupy a place in the market filled with foreign brands, or even in international exhibition competitions.
Since the first flagship store opened in Changle Road in October 14, 2006, Eno, as a young fashion brand in Shanghai, has been committed to building and promoting local fashion culture and art since its first eno in China.
After the brand was established, eno cooperated with local and international designers, artists and musicians. As a platform for promoting the trend of art, the company successfully launched a series of creative activities, including art speakers, Trek art bike series, eno 3/3 activities, enoise music program and environmental GreenT activities.
"I, WZL" in 2005, adFunture began to pay attention to street culture and fashion art in mainland China.
The "I, WZL" produced by adFunture in 2006 is the world's first designer toy created by Chinese indigenous artists.
Wang Yuwei, a young designer from Beijing, has a unique and passionate creation in the field of vector graphics. One of the interesting characters he created is more popular with "adFunture" and signed up for cooperation. In January this year, the first designer toy product was launched in the Chinese market, which undoubtedly wrote a new page for the mainland of China.
DBG DBG is a brand created by local designers in Guangzhou, China. It is also a media medium with special design and production to combat the invasion of capitalist brands.
Its projects include design, film and television production, cultural activities, music licensing, photography, modeling, artist agency and so on.
Its ultimate goal is to make DBG a platform for more local artists, designers and creative people to offer more opportunities for themselves, all for the Chinese people's own pop culture.
TheThing TheThing was founded in 2005, focusing on the design of GRAPHIC&FASHION. Currently, there are three self concept stores in Shanghai, and the expansion of the foreign market is working with partners.
"THETHING" is interpreted as "this thing".
As far as practicable articles are concerned, it is possible to express the idea of being informal and individual emotional design, so as to deepen the life around them.
The product is mainly used in the street structure. TEE is the main carrier. Then, when appropriate, we introduce some new products, such as caps, bags, jeans and so on.
The design of the carrier is rhythmically stretched, and on this basis, we continue to try different new ideas and new products.
MULTIPLICATION SIGN MULTIPLICATION SIGN (MS) comes from Shanghai. It is a local original brand with footwear design and handwork as its core. The design team includes DK, JOY and SOMO. They founded this brand, hoping to break the impression that China is sweating factory in the eyes of foreigners, and let people know that China will also have world-class design. The beginning of China's independent design industry will be the pride of Made in China.
LAVIE the work of native young designers rooted in Shanghai often combines Chinese elements with elegance and hippies to create a unique style.
In 2002, Kyrgyzstan created its own brand "Lavie", a brand that combines Chinese elements with western style cutting and Oriental humor, and has been favored by many women who pursue their independence and freedom.
