Lining's sports career includes not only the experience of athletes in Olympic Games, but also his strong influence as a businessman and sports industry in China.
In 1988, when Lining walked down the plane back home in a somewhat gloomy way, he knew that his future road might not be so broad. If there was no failure of the Seoul Olympic Games, Lining would probably be like the other athletes of the time when he was on the way to coach, to go abroad or to be an official, or he had a more special way to go to the entertainment circle. The good appearance and the high popularity made Lining sing many times with the famous artists such as Anita Mui, Alan Tam and so on, though it was later criticized by the Chinese as "not doing the right job".

Lou Yun recalls: "that day, Lining personally painted a bamboo for the new friend. The painting was kept for many years by Li Jingwei."
In Li Jingwei's eyes, Lining is an athlete with "strong learning ability and high understanding". In April 1989, Li Jingwei's personal appointment to Lining's "assistant general manager" is not his desperate gamble.
Li Jingwei recalled: "in the winter of 1984, Lining, who had no idea about business, gave inspiration to Jianlibao to complete the second leap. At that time, we sponsored the 1984 Chinese Olympic delegation to let the name of Jianlibao ring across the river. After that, the problem I was faced with was how to continue to cooperate with China's sports, because the sponsorship of 12 national team drinks cost 250 thousand annually, and this hard number was still in front of my eyes. I found Lining at that time a private guest house of the National Sports Committee and myself."
"When we were playing abroad, we often saw that companies were chasing athletes to give him clothes and shoes. Finally, they paid a sum of money to make a brand for their products through the star effect. Now the domestic focus is on Chinese sports, but no domestic enterprise has realized that sports can bring benefits to themselves."
Li Jingwei said that Lining's words made him decide to sign the contract. The sponsorship fee of 250 thousand yuan was like a gold coin planted in the ground. In 1985, the output value of Jianlibao group increased 50 times, reaching 50 million yuan.
4 years later, when Lining considered what he was doing, Li Jingwei threw the problem back to Lining. "Now athletes are starting to drink Chinese drinks. Why do we Chinese do not wear their own clothes?"
So Lining put aside the idea of starting a gymnastics school and turned Lining into a brand in Guangdong Sanshui.
Lining said: "the success of an enterprise is quite similar to that of an athlete who wins championships. Many times, success is not the most suffering. It is often because he has luck that he can not go to the present without suffering a disaster that destroys his life."
It seems to him that childhood adolescence had almost no end to the scale of his sports career. In the three days before the 1981 World Championships, sprain his ankle did not prevent him from winning the team championship. Then he caught up with 89 years of turmoil but failed to lose all his overseas investments. The first batch of Lining shoes was not qualified, but only 40% of the annual development cost could be considered lucky.
The veteran employees of the Li Ning Co remember the time when they just came to Beijing. If they met late into the night, there must be Lining in the conference room. The sponsorship of the 1990 Asian Games torch relay and the sponsorship of the athletes from 1992 to 2004 four Olympic Games were all discussed by Lining.
Just after leaving the Jianlibao group, in order to make the Li Ning Co develop more healthily, Lining, who values his affection, persuaded his brother, sister-in-law and cousin to be separated from each other. This laid the foundation for Li Ning Co's subsequent internationalization and shareholding system.
