On the export side, Costa Rica restricts exports to articles related to culture, art, archaeology and historical heritage in accordance with the "International Conference on endangered species of Wild Fauna and flora", "control of pnational pfer of hazardous wastes and its handling of the Basel conference" and "Montreal Treaty on substances harmful to the ozone layer".

The additional tax is based on law 6946th, with a tax rate of 1%, which applies to all imported goods. There are only a few exceptions (such as imports from FTA, WTO goods on information technology agreement, goods benefited from the Export Processing Zone Act No. 6695th, medical equipment and medicines).
Except for some animal and plant products, medical products and foods that require special permission to import, the import tariff of most commodities is ad valorem tax, which is applicable to the CIF price.
