    Chairman Su Chaoying: Current Economic Situation Of Leather Industry

    Su Chaoying, chairman of China Leather Association, released the economic performance of leather industry in the first half of 2015, and briefly explained the key points of the "13th Five-Year" plan for the leather industry.

    Chairman Su Chaoying pointed out the specific ideas for future development: "the industry needs to assess the situation and change the way of thinking, gradually move towards the high-end value chain from an international perspective, pform from cost competition to innovation competition, achieve a new round of growth through technological progress, rely on brand building, promote rapid industrial upgrading, strengthen personnel training, and consolidate development foundation."

    In his speech, President Su Chaoying focused on the overall situation and characteristics of the leather industry's economic operation in the first half of 2015.

    The output index increased slightly, slowly increased, the output of light leather remained basically stable, and the growth rate of product production slowed down.

    In 2015 1-6, the output of light leather was 290 million square meters, an increase of 0.9% compared with the same period last year. The output of leather garments was 35 million, an increase of 0.6% over the same period, an increase of 3.2% over the same period last year, and a 2 million 233 thousand increase in fur clothing, an increase of 4% over the same period, a decrease of 14.7% over the same period of last year.

    The slow growth of development is mainly due to the lack of motivation for external demand. There are two reasons for his analysis. One is the slowdown in export growth, which shows that the export value of leather garments has dropped by 26.2% and 37.4%, respectively. The export value of leather shoes has decreased by 6.3% and 1.8% compared with the same period last year, and the export of fur garments has increased by 4.7%, which is quite different from that of 36.8% last year. The export volume has dropped 3.6%, and two has been pferred from orders to Southeast Asia.

    In 2015 1-6, the sales of leather industry reached 627 billion 740 million yuan, up 6.5% from the same period last year, and the growth rate dropped 3.9 percentage points.

    From the sub industry perspective, the top three sales of leather shoes, leather and luggage products accounted for 59.1% of the total three sub sectors, representing a growth rate of 5.1%, 3.6% and 6.4%, respectively, which were lower than the industry average.

    While the eastern region, which occupies 76.8% of the country's total sales revenue, is growing at only 5.2%, lower than the industry average.

    The gross profit of the leather industry is 38 billion 450 million yuan, up 4.1% from the same period last year, and the growth rate dropped 15.2 percentage points.

    From the industry point of view: leather shoes, leather and leather clothing ranked first, second, fourth in total profits, accounting for 56.9% of the three sub sectors, down 6.2%, 0.9% and 7.8%, respectively.

    The eastern region, which accounts for 70.6% of the total sales revenue in the country, dropped by 0.6% compared to the same period last year, thereby slowing down the growth of industry profits.

    The leather industry's export growth is weak, and the growth momentum of the future is insufficient.

    In the first half of this year, the main leather industry exported 41 billion 240 million US dollars, an increase of 3.9% over the same period last year, and the growth rate dropped 1.8 percentage points.

    The export volume of shoes and bags increased by 1% and 10.8% compared with the same period last year, but the number of exports decreased by 2.1% and 5.9% respectively.

    The traditional export market is divided and the emerging market continues to improve.

    2015 in the first half of the year, the five main markets of China's leather industry's total exports accounted for 64.8%, exports to the United States increased 10.7%, exports to the EU decreased by 0.6%, exports to Japan decreased by 8.7% compared to the same period last year, and fell to 21.8% over the same period in Russia.

    In the first half of 2015, China's main leather industry continued to maintain rapid growth in emerging markets such as ASEAN and Africa, and the market potential was further released. Among them, exports to ASEAN increased by 27.9% and exports to Africa increased by 25.9%.

    The import of raw materials decreased year by year, and consumption orientation became increasingly obvious.

    In the first half of this year, China's leather industry imported $4 billion 720 million, an increase of 6% over the same period last year, and the growth rate dropped 6.1 percentage points.

    Imports of finished leather, semi finished leather and tanned fur decreased by 7.8%, 4.8% and 4.2%, respectively, indicating a slowdown in production.

    In the contribution of import growth, the finished product was 4.6%, of which footwear contributed 4.2%, while semi finished leather, finished leather and tannage.

    Products contributed more to imports than raw materials, and import structure continued to shift from production to consumption.

    In the first half of this year, 15 e-commerce websites sold 160 million pairs of women's shoes, 17 billion 830 million yuan, an increase of 27.2% and 23.5% respectively compared with the same period last year; men's shoes sold 84 million 348 thousand pairs, 10 billion 280 million yuan, up 37.3% and 34.4% respectively, compared with the previous year, and the sales of women's bags 50 million 308 thousand, 5 billion 940 million yuan, respectively, respectively.
