Exclusive Interview: Cutphobia Designer Harissa

A: speaking of making clothes seems like a natural thing for me.
When I was young, because I didn't have the knowledge of art, I even couldn't apply for the major of clothing. I didn't apply for it until second jobs after graduation.
In 2008, by chance of being invited by friends, Li Yue Jia Chang International Department Store Co., Ltd. is responsible for purchasing and acting on foreign brand clothing. This opportunity has enabled me to keep in touch with the origin and development of fashion industry and have a deep understanding of brand culture.
In the process of buying a buyer, he often comes up with his own ideas on clothes, and has some thoughts on the impact of Western brands on the domestic market.
In 2013, because he felt that he needed to improve his professional knowledge, he went to Toronto to study. In the process, he had the idea of creating his own brand. He wanted to organize, summarize and express what he learned and accumulated over the years by making clothes.
This idea was also strongly supported by the company.

In the process of design, I integrate my favorite style elements, taking into account the audience and practicality of clothes, and in order to pay tribute to my favorite masters, I put the brand in the simple design of men and women.
No matter what color and fabric is used and how to design, they do not want to define sex, nor do they want to use too many decorative and printed folds to define the timeline of clothing.
Q: what's the biggest difference in publishing this fashion week?
A: this year's work on fashion week is featured by men's and women's wear. Although this concept has been widely used abroad, it may not be a lot in fashion week in China, especially in a neutral fashion with no more men's and women's clothing and simple black and white tone.
I will not use the designer's perspective to measure the quality of the work, because the previous buyer's work experience has always allowed himself to judge the quality of clothing from the perspective of consumers and users.
The essence of its return is not the design and exaggeration of the T table, but the comfort of the fabric, whether it is easy to wear, easy to match, exquisite in technology, outstanding in details, and right in design, free from exaggeration.
The classic works are not easy to be outdated, not easy to be damaged, and will not be forgotten by the wearer in the corner. The soul of a good work lies in whether it respects the clothes themselves and whether they are satisfied with all the needs of the buyers.
Q: what elements of a successful independent original brand should you possess in your mind?
A: from the perspective of designers, I am afraid I am not qualified to enumerate these elements. I can only summarize my views with onlookers.
Individuals believe that the original independent brand of success lies in originality, two independence and three commercial value.
First of all, originality is the embodiment of designer's creativity. Without originality, it will lose the independence of design. The works will also be drowned in many similar products without memory points, so the original design is the most important point, like the diamond lattice in Chanel, like wrinkles in Lssey Miyake.
Q: would you like to introduce the brand culture of cutphobia?
The literal meaning of A:cutphobia is to eliminate fear through tailoring, but in fact, it is hoped to eliminate fear of other things by doing what one likes.
Making clothes is a great skill for yourself, and obsessed with it will inevitably run away from noisy and disturbed environments and personnel, including things that you do not like or fear to face.
The paranoia of fabric and silhouette can also focus on itself.
There are some golden mean and hermit philosophy in brand culture. It coincides with the simplicity of design concept. I hope this brand is a gift for the dedicated and paranoid.
